Not to play devil’s advocate but he donated a million dollars of HIS OWN MONEY to Puerto Rico. The only person that complained was San Juan mayor, Carmen Cruz, who is a self-proclaimed communist and Hillary Clinton supporter anyway. All the other politicians on the island congratulated him for going above and beyond.

If George Soros truly cared about the people he claims to defend, then why didn't he invest his 18 billion into programs that actually support minorities, improving quality of life in inner cities, minority scholarships, housing the homeless and feeding the hungry? Instead, he invested billions into destructive "resistance" groups whose primary focus is dividing our nation and undermining a democratic election, all of which promote civil war. Antisemitism is certainly on the rise although it's stemming from the left. Let's not forget the Nazis were a socialist party of whom George Soros proudly supported.

For the record, the national socialist ideologists took bits and bobs from socialist thought to fit their own agenda. Although national socialism, like socialism, favours the community over the individual, it also strongly believes in the idea of taking ones own responsibility and individual stength i.e. survival of the fittest, which is a classical liberal market doctrine, one of the fundamental pillars of capitalism (how ironic). This is one of the reasons why they outlawed vagrants and the mentally handicapped, because they were seen as individuals who leeched off other people and weren't able to care for themselves, which meant they were seen as a burden to the state and national welfare in general. There's more to national socialism than the name suggests.

I agree there's more to socialism than meets the eye, although the general principles are the same. One of the fundamental flaws of socialism is allowing the government too much control, taking away the will of the people. Individuals are typically driven by rewards. When you take away one’s right to earn incentives for their hard work, you take away people's inspiration. Capitalism rewards individuals based on results, which creates competition (better quality products/services). Capitalism even creates a safety net (welfare) for the poor and less fortunate, paid for by taxpayers who generate wealth. Bernie Sanders says "everyone has the right to free healthcare," which again sounds great in theory. The fact is, healthcare is a service and no one has a "right" to another person’s services. When government intervenes in the free market, it drives up costs and creates bureaucracy (Obamacare) whereas individual healthcare insurance benefits have always been offered as an incentive of employment, encouraging people to work and earn a living. Again, for those who can't (the handicapped), we had systems in place (Medicaid/Medicare) which helped alleviate suffering.

What is your definition of the 'will of the people'? Not everyone is the same. We all have different social, cultural and political backgrouds. The idea of a 'will of the people' is one of the reasons I abhor direct forms of democracy such as referenda, because the outcome generally does not protect the rights of minorities. It is the governments task to guarentee everyone the right to healthcare and guarantee the safety and constitutional rights of ALL its citizens, not just the privileged
