Cedar Point's new for 2024 coaster Top Thrill 2 is complete as far as track work goes including the 420 foot reverse spike. For those that don't know, Top Thrill 2 used to be coaster called Top Thrill Dragster which opened back in 2003 and it was the world's tallest and fastest coaster when it opened. It launched from 0 to 120 mph to a height of 420 feet using a hydraulic launch system and I had the opportunity to ride it from 2010 to 2019 excluding 2020 cause I didn't go in 2020. Unfortunately in 2021, an accident shut the ride down and the park announced it wouldn't open as the same ride again. Long story short, August 1st of this year they announced Top Thrill 2 the world's tallest and fastest triple launch coaster. It'll launch at 74 mph and go halfway up the existing tower, it'll launch backwards at 101 mph up a 420 foot spike, and then it'll launch at 120 mph up and over the existing tower.
