I did just out of curiosity a couple years ago and I'm astoundingly French. Shocker. Must be why @rapinoes smirking revenge likes me so much. ❤️ The English have always been our BIGGEST fans!

I also have traces of Northern Italian and the Levant. It was fun to see the information even though it just confirmed everything from my family's oral history.

Basically I should be sunning by and swimming in the Mediterranean everyday. 👙 Viva Le Midi!

My wife tried and a loaf of Wonder Bread Classic White showed up in the mail for some reason. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Damn Floridians!

Yes, I have. I uploaded my 23andMe, MyHeritage and FamilyTreeDna results for a more accurate breakdown of my ancestry. Ich bin ein (partial) Berliner! with Dutch, British, Scandinavian and Polish ancestry

I have- I've done both 23 and Me, and Ancestry. Pretty cool to dig into! I have a huge interest in geneology, and I've loved diving into my family history. Recently (within the last 2 weeks) I found out that one of my coworkers is a cousin....which is insane, as he relocated his family here to when we offered him the job 4 years ago...so he isn't even from around here. 🙂

Same. I’m a genealogy geek. It’s funny, my direct family are all from Europe, except for 3 or 4 relatives who migrated to the US 100-110 years ago, but most of my cousin matches are from the US. I’m mostly German, Dutch, English and distant Eastern Euro (Silesian German) and Scandinavian (Norwegian/Swedish/Danish) Best company in terms of accuracy for me is 23andme, but Gedmatch, a free genealogy website with literally hundreds of ancestry oracles/tools is probably superior to 23andme, depending on the calculator you use.

I’m distantly related to Margot Robbie through her mother’s side. Margot’s maternal grandfather was Herbert Justus Kessler (the son of Johannes Justus Kessler and Erna Dolcia Kowald). Erna was born in Australia, the daughter of Johannes Berthold Kowald, whose father was from Silesia, Prussia. Kowald is probably a German variant of Kowalski.

My paternal great grandfather and his mother were born in Breslau, Silesia (Prussia/Germany) now Wrocław, Poland. Silesian Germans/Poles are all closely related to each other. Most are descended from German settlers from Saxony, Franconia and Austria (Austria in my case) who intermarried with Poles.

Sound like you are stuck the pre 2000's age for you base the image you go in your profile. @Muzik Luver
Not really. I embrace any technological advances that come along, just not sure about ascertaining total information of one's ancestry from these types of tests. The image is there because it is a fond recollection of a piece of audio equipment that was in our household as a child.

Funny you should read about DNA testing and companies and how it takes to map out the DNA and now how fast it can complete now. @Muzik Luver

Dutch, German, Scandinavian and British Isles basically, and no, Orcadian isn’t something out of Lord of the Rings. It refers to someone from the Orkney Isles, basically a mixed Scando-Brit, similar to Icelandic and Björk.

I haven’t done it but I think it’s great that DNA testing has advanced as far as it has and, as mentioned above, that more people are doing it. I’m also excited to see the advances in stem cell technology as I believe that will cure many very serious disease that plague human beings.

I also think DNA technology is a great crime solving tool and has already been used to solve some very cold cases and catch some very bad people. I hope it someday gives us the answer to the Jon Benet Ramsey case. 🤞🏻

As for fears of the gov doing bad things with your DNA, the gov/big corporations already collect tons of data about us. And if they really wanted your DNA they could get that too. 🤷🏻‍♂️
