Have You Tried Mental Health Apps or Devices? What’s Your Experience?

Hi everyone! 🌱

I’m a healthcare writer exploring how software and wearable devices are changing the mental health landscape. There's a huge wave of innovation—from meditation apps and online therapy platforms to smart rings and EEG-driven headsets.

📈 According to industry reports:

The global Mental Health Software & Devices market was worth $6.9 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow to nearly $31 billion by 2034—with a 16% CAGR

In North America, the US mental health software/devices market is forecast to reach ~$32 billion by 2035—equally split across software and devices.

Devices like smart rings and EEG headsets are rising fast—global device platforms are growing at over 22% CAGR.

That’s a lot of growth and excitement—but what really matters is user experience.

💬 Questions for You:
Have you ever used any mental-wellness app or gadget—like Calm, BetterHelp, Oura Ring, Muse, or Neurable?

Did it help? What stood out—good or bad?

Do you think these tools can supplement or even replace in-person support?

I’ve tried meditation apps and found they helped me build consistency—but I still value human connection.

🧠Share your honest experience! Which apps or devices worked—or didn’t—and why? Any concerns around privacy, effectiveness, or clarity?

📌 P.S. – If anyone’s curious, there’s a comprehensive market report here (great for healthcare pros):

Feel free to check it—just sharing a resource!

I use Better Help, probably in a way you are not thinking of but it is okay. You do get paired with a certified therapist. It is a good app to use if you have a situation you need to process about. You do have the freedom of picking your own therapist. There is no assessment or treatment plans like in traditional psychotherapy.
You have to remember your therapist is not online 24-7 so if you are in crisis then you do need to seek help locally.

Some other online platforms have psychiatrists or probably nurse practitioners who can prescribe psychotropic medications.

Yes, I’ve tried a few mental health apps like Calm and Headspace. They helped with stress and sleep, especially during tough weeks. They're not a replacement for therapy, but great for daily support. Some mood-tracking apps also made me more aware of patterns. Overall, helpful if used consistently!
