How exactly does XP work?

I've never really cared or looked into it, but it's been pointed out to me recently. So I'm wondering how this works? And how someone with an account for one week can be the "All Time" leader, earning twice as much XP in one week than the person in 2nd place with an account that's 2 years old?

It's just odd to me that in a week someone can earn 370,000 XP and the next highest person earned 3,000.

It's itching my brain.
 
If we get 1 XP for 5 minutes and are logged on 24/7, that's 2016 XP/week. It just doesn't track 🤷🏻‍♀️

when you buy gold you get xp, when you send gifts to someone you get xp, and a lot quicker than typing, if someone spends a lot of money they can reach first in a matter of minutes, which is most likely the case here.

you only get xp for typing, buying gold or sending gifts to another user, being afk does not grant you any xp.
 
She admitted it wasn't achieved honestly. The itch in my brain is scratched.
