In the past did women wait till marriage for sex?

Not everyone but many did.
In the past if you were a "deflorated" female it would mean that your chances of being married are low.
In some cultures after the first wedding night the couple used to show publicly the bed sheets stained in hymen blood to the wedding guests as a sign of respect and devotion.
Or...in other cultures young people would indulge in anal sex thus remaining sexually satisfied and virgins.
And yes wedding were 3 days and 3 nights...in many cases even a week long.

Now days, thing are much different...well lets put it this way, hymen(respectfully to few) is a thing of past when it comes to marriage.

Proportional to that the number of marriages is declining and they are celebrated in an intimate circles.
Isn't that interesting, how things change in accordance.:D

In the old days before mass production of latex condoms (which have been around for at least 50+ yrs) people used sheep organs as condoms, DIY birth control, or the pull out method during sex. Seeing as brothels have been around since Roman times it's hard to believe that every woman waited until marriage, but since poverty has also been around there's probably handfuls of women who couldn't even afford to leave their village so they wouldn't dare sleep around to get a bad reputation, and may even become nuns. I think you don't really see sexual independence with women until the 60's in America, before that life was probably identical for hundreds of years. Very boring, very conservative, maybe even very short.

Yes of course they did. People fr the medeival ages didn't have dating and relationships. Marriages were only for the survival of the bloodline. But time changed customs. Ancient indian temples and caves have nude statues, some performing groupsex and oral stimulation too. But if you look at the current India, most of it is developed and people do believe in relationships before wedding but sex is still considered a tabboo by the middle aged and senior population. In some Muslim marriages men had most of the times 2 or more wives and it was okay among them.

Is it true that sex before marriage is a recent trend and that in the past everybody waited till marriage for sex???
In the past sex was a no no to talk about in public. The same thing that goes on now went on in the past, they hid what they were doing is all..... if the women got pregnant and boys stepped up to the plate they would marry. if not the girl was sent away. if the girl was rapped, this was the girls fault. This brought shame on to a family. Girls were also killed for getting pregnant, this was not unheard of......
I take it they dont teach this stuff in schools these days?

1. "Did Women Wait Till Marriage for Sex?": A study from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), based on data obtained between 2003 and 2007, concluded that while having sex once a week may seem like a lot compared to how often men have sex, this is not true. In fact, among those aged 25-29, about 36 percent of men had sex at least four times a week and about 28 percent of women had sex at least twice a week. Even if we consider only couples who were married or lived together, these percentages are still pretty high. Nearly 70 percent of women had some form of sexual activity at least once a week while nearly half of men reported doing the same. These numbers show us that both men and women have had sex before they got married.
2. More Than Half Of Married Adults Have Had Sex Before They Got Married: According to a survey conducted by the NCHS between 2006 and 2010, almost half of all adults who were currently married or lived with someone else said they had sex before they got engaged. Only 22 percent of people said they waited until their wedding night to have sex for the first time. This means that over

Some did in the past and some still do. Currently, 5% are virgins when they marry. In the past, the percent of virgins when they marry was considerably higher. However, they married at a younger age and that is a contributing factor. The differences is the culture is a major factor as is superior methods of birth control.

The bold word is a term used by pedophiles. No shocker here but there's always warning signs.
