Hi all, I need some advice. I have a drinking problem, I started drinking when I was in school. Now I drink a lot and it scares me. I am trying to reduce my alcohol intake but I can't control my desire. My friends suggested getting medical support. Can someone suggest a rehab I can consider? Does anyone have any experience with there treatments? Kindly share your suggestions.
We have this running through our family (hence why i dont use the stuff ).
My father and his co workers were sent to a rehab when these first started to open since his work place was full of alcoholics, everyone used alcohol and it was making the news.
It is hard to stay away from something you see everywhere, real life, movies, tv - alcohol is such a accepted part of our society.
I would think any reputable rehab facility may help you since you want the help. If you are paying for the rehab out of your pocket it can be expensive!! I would think you would want to check out prices first , if you are paying for it out of your pocket. If going through your insurance , find one that takes your insurance. I hear the human resource departments here in the usa will help with this, however I dont know if this is real or just a rumor. I would think our tax dollars are being used to help people. The feeling of being drunk is actually your body being poisoned, after some time your body fights back this poison by adapting to the alcohol. Hence the addiction.
Stay away from your party friends. Dont walk down the alcohol isle of the store when you are buying such things as milk. Find some other means for the sugar you are also addicted to. Alcohol has sugars folks get addicted to as well as the alcohol. Learn to say no to your party friends, they will stop asking after you tell them no long enough. You will feel like crap the first week or two as your body weens itself off the alcohol, but you can do it. There are the aa meetings you can go to as well .....
A change in lifestyle is needed and you will always be wanting to use alcohol...... one day at a time . You can do this!
