No midnight to morning mods

This is not a bashing message just something I've noticed.
I'm usually on here days or nights at anytime hours if I'm not working, but have noticed anytime between midnight to or 6:00 AM Eastern Time, there are no mods on anywhere.
Do mods have certain schedules when they are or not supposed to be here watching the rooms? Do we need mods working certain hours of the day?
I asked this because I know there's a lot of international people on here while most of the US is asleep or vice versa and we need to have mods somewhat patrolling the rooms 24 hours a day or have someone available in case something goes awry in the rooms.
Would love to hear some input.

Sometimes it is not possible to find mods for every hour of every day. Being a moderator is a voluntary role and just like everyone else - they have things going on in their own lives too. We can't expect them to be online all the time.

If we hire bulk amount of mods we run the risk of overstaffing the rooms and mods tripping over each other to warn/mute etc - it makes things too policed.

We cant mandate specific times and I'm grateful for every minute my mods give to helping me in Mobile Chat. Admins select mods from a range of different time zones to get good coverage but this isn't always possible because sometimes people from uncovered time zones don't apply. In saying that - not everyone that does apply is a good candidate either.

Police and military officers are paid, staff here are not. It's difficult for me to make the comparison between defending your country and moderating an online chatroom.

Yes but also if I'm going to give someone responsibilities (e.g. protecting under 18s in a chatroom, removing creeps, ensuring chat is safe etc) I'm going to want to give those responsibilities to someone that won't abuse that trust. Sometimes admins get mods that slip through the cracks, but we all want genuine people to protect our users. Would you rather be pulled over by a nice police officer or an a**hole police officer that wants to abuse his power?

You’ve had a sensible explanation as to why this doesn’t happen but try being proactive if you feel so strongly and send a PM to the only person that can do anything about this > @Chatmaster instead of littering up forums

edit: Admins try to cover as many time zones they can. We are given a set limit of mods that we can hire.
