Phone tracker

Does someone use a phone trackers in the family. Recently my younger brother was missing for more then 10 hours and the parents where absolutely devastated. We are all very happy he is back and everything is fine but my parents want to be able to track his phone from now on. Do you use something like that? Can you recommend something?

If your iPhone just use find my iPhone
 
Tracker apps. You might have to pay a subscription but its worth it.
Also, phones may have a SIM card that helps tracking down whoever owns it.
