Nah. No need for a "Mathematical Algorithm".
Mac and Microsoft both have free programs to recover deleted files. Not to mention the countless number of after market programs that do the same thing. Then there's the open source freeware programs that do it too.
Just tell him to ****** it. These days they are so user friendly a 2 year old can use them.
