Suggestions for Main Chat - Bots

I’ve thought about this a couple times but do you think it would be easier or should i say do you think there would be less bots in main spamming the chats constantly if every guests or accounts that are made has a five minute mute as soon as the account is made, whether they’re a guest account or users. I was modding earlier and in 30 minutes i came across over atleast 30 bot texts which some were repeated if we had a place where accounts would be muted when they create an account it would avoid the over spamming in main chat and would be more effective to control as bots would have to wait to resend their texts which would keep the chat cleaner that what it is now.

I also think that guest accounts should only be allowed to make a maximum of three accounts in the course of 2/3 hours, if they’re making more then it’s for dodgy reasons ofc.

I think the mute idea for new accounts is a good suggestion and i’m sure others would agree.

Muting all new guests, while popular idea that's been floated over the years- hasn't been done (in part) because it tends to punish the legit guest user with the troll/troublemaker guests,

there are so many other places for people to spend their time that if their first visit to a chat is a "punishment" might/probably make them not want to return. Good for those who want annoying guests stopped, but bad if your trying to grow a room/site.

Turning pms off or to user/friends only helps with guest spam, and im not sure about all rooms but perhaps VIP users see less spammy advertising also.

hi cat admin. did u just say we should log off and like go outside to the real world? 🤔 this isnt just a chat avenue to some chat ppl its a whole chat world 🌎

I think it’s a great idea! New users don’t typically want to send a message the first few minutes unless their plans are to break rules (spamming, sending links, trolling, etc).

To make it less of a “punishment” could always have a welcome pop up message with the rules to give them something to do during that time and also ensure they’re in the right place with the best intentions.

Before anyone tells me there’s a banner message when people join, I know, we all know rarely anyone reads it 😂 it would be nice if they had to click and acknowledge they read it before continuing.

this. if they receive a message as to why it's happening i don't think many people are going to just runt right off unless they had some unsavory intentions. many places do this.

@Chatmaster a good suggestion by OP, perhaps worth considering? especially for the larger rooms.

This cam site called ‘Blogtv’ used to have a room called ‘troll rehab’. Every time you got kicked from a room, you got sent to a room filled with other kicked users with the trololol song playing in the background. Would be cool if chat-avenue had something similar.
It actually used to be like that here back in the day. If you were kicked from the main room, you could come back, but only to a side room.

it wouldn’t technically be a punishment, it’d be as placement to make the chat a better place, like @Mooose says most new users don’t talk and just look about for the first couple minutes, until they make an account, it wouldn’t be just for guests it should be for users too for all fairness.

It’s make the main chat less of spam chaos and more easier for mods to keep the main clean and friendly for everyone. But mainly it’d stop a lot of the spam bots/trollers.

Also since it’s a popular idea how comes it’s not been implemented yet, it would probably make the chat better for most of the normal users, there really should not be complaints for it as it’d be a help for the entire site.

The bots can be avoided by simply having guest accounts fill a captcha (already doable)
The registered accounts can be banned for having both pornography in their profile pics and advertising sex sites (already doable)

But CM doesnt allow this.
There is only one reason he doesnt instantly ban these accounts like the nuissance they are.
He is profiting off of them.

I agree your suggestion would help the larger rooms- and many users would agree with you. Only the owners can implement though- the new update might give owners that option- whether they choose to do it remains to be seen. Thanks for the suggestion.

We had this in kids chat, every guest was muted for 2 mins when they joined. Definitely helped with bots but every new guest would pm asking what they had done to be muted coz they never read the notification 😂

You know the bot accounts and trolls are not just limited to guests right? not only that the owner doesn't care either because the bots bring him extra revenue just like the peds of the site. for that reason, you are wanting a change that will never come.
