Sorry non-UK folk but you can get involved too if you like

So it’s:

5p off fuel duty for a year
1pc cut in basic tax by 2024
VAT free home insulation and what not
NIC threshold raised to £12.5k

Personally…
Thanks for that, so I’ll still be paying more for fuel than I did a few months ago, I’ll pay a tiny bit less tax that will partially pay for the extra cost of fuel, my home is well insulated and the £330 a year I could save from the raised NIC threshold is probably taken off me elsewhere (most likely paying for fuel).

Dishy Rishi? More like Tricky D!cky. I’d stick him on the Wouldja thread because I probably would but some leftie called him Ted Heath with Instagram and Ted Heath had no balls so I can’t get the image of Maggie T giving it to Ted now 🤢

But what do I know? I’m a child of the 90s where John Major was too busy getting oral services from Eddie Currie to care about the economy and STILL I don’t know whether it’s safe to eat eggs!

Anybody else care to comment? Will the Spring Statement make any difference to you, good or bad?

Nvm the Wouldja thread, the OBR just royally f***ed Rishi

“UK households are set to see the biggest drop in their spending power since records began in 1956, the Office for Budget Responsibility has said.

That's because of rising prices combined with the impact of tax increases.”

I am deceased at the second to last paragraph 🥹🤣🥹🤣🥹🤣
I remember that so well also- I always forget you’re 2 months more boomer than me.

Personally the fuel thing for me will be a bit of leeway but has it’s cons- don’t forget it all adds up at end of the tax year. Nasty little ba5tard to receive before my birthday. NIC threshold don’t be fooled it supersedes the tax. Think about it 1P by 2024???

No.

Trust me. I come from HMRC.

((Incase anyone didn’t know- the fuel tax will hit a lot of employees with benefits in their contract- those benefits reduce your tax threshold (before you start paying tax) when your employer claims them on a P11D form on your behalf.

Sneaky sneaky. 🤫
