Thoughts on enemies to lovers?

So I have a few experiences and was wondering if this is common

Occurrence 1: Middle School. I was more of an overachiever than I'd like to admit, this one girl absolutely hated me and I swear I was enjoying every moment of it. I pretty much made it my goal to make it the worst year of her life because she tried so hard to beat me to the point of bad-mouthing me and later spread rumours I was secretly in love with her?? Teacher made us sit together and we dated for 3 months (first unofficial love)

Occurrence 2: Valorant. Guys always say the gayest stuff while gaming and I always flirt with them for jokes cuz the male ego is fragile and they get so uncomfortable when another guy matches their energy (plus to get back on the harassment they give to girl gamers). One day, this guy matched MY energy and I hated it. But the more I hated it, the more I liked it. Long story short, kinda fell hard for him, he loved my best friend, horrible fallout.

In conclusion, I can't really hate anyone for real now. Except for my extended family, I genuinely despise them.

I think that many people like to be challenged. If you have quite a strong personality (which, despite you saying you're shy often, you do), and someone steps up to you and matches that energy, it creates tension and that's kinda hot.

Particularly the second example you gave - you like flirting with men because it makes them feel uncomfortable, which puts you in control of the situation. The second he rose to it, it feels thrilling because it takes that control of the situation away from you. I think the main question to ask then though, is are you attracted to that person as a whole or to the way it made you feel?

In a sort of similar way, myself and my boyfriend are both very headstrong, and that's the way I like it; I don't think I would feel the attraction in the same way for someone who just went along with whatever I wanted. I'm pretty opinionated and I want someone else the same, whether they have similar opinions to me or not, because otherwise there would be no challenge.

Some people just want to make me reel in disgust. Wouldn't date them though.

The idea that you can make an enemy into a lover is kinda poetic, like there is this girl who whenever sees me gives me the look of death, in return I just give her an eye-roll. Wouldn't date her though, it would be like this...

So, yeah nah. I'll flirt with girls who know how to flirt back. It's safer...
