Euthanasia..

I feel like it depends, if that person has felt like they've experienced enough in life personally and just want to end it all peacefully then ok, same to if theyve been suffering something thats completely incurable and they want to end it. But if its out of something like depression or something thats actually curable, they should get treatment, not an ending for their life.

Yeah i dont know Its a choice and choices ultimately hard. On the one hand people want that choice if they have someone/themselves with a terminall ilness. On the other, hand some people have mental illnesses so that would be considered suicide/homicide. I think people need to be evaluated by one or more doctors in both scenarios.

Haha, I was hoping for a debate, but it seems we are all on the same page.

What do you guys think of someone who is in mental anguish and doesn't want to live?

I think adding mental health in to the debate can murky the waters. We can appreciate wanting to end life before before losing control with the impacts of a terminal illness, but how can we define a mental health issue as terminal and/or when does mental health become terminal.

Having said that, someone in mental anguish is going to find a way to end it anyway and I don't think it would make it any easier to deal with weather it is through a legal avenue or not.

Someone willing to make that decision is often not capable of doing it independently… due to medical reasons.. they then ask for help from someone else which makes it messy and dangerous.
They should set up euthanisation clinics. Where you can go and die and have loved ones around you. Holding your hands etc.

legalized only for the terminally ill. if someone has mental illness it’s treatable. there’s a reason why we tell people not to commit suicide and get hep instead. having euthanasia as an option defeats that purpose

One that is suicidal can commit suicide by inhumane and often horrific methods with horrific results. Not all mental illness is treatable or controllable, it is merely repressed with sedation, which is also inhumane.

But voluntarily killing them ain’t no answer either. No way. This kind of thing can get out of hand very, very easily. Imagine a doctor friend or friend of a doctor doing you in, uh oh, amid so many other scenarios, yeah, nah.

Nonya’s remember the asylums? I guess we’re all too young to know, the way the women were treated, called mentally ill when some of them weren’t and aha, after being locked up, drugged with every number of things, yer, I don’t think so - this happened in America.

Too much **** kept under secrecy with every government of the world already and citizens of any one country will say yes freely to youth—and-Asia? Haaaaaaail no!

I’ll be right mate but andrews brought it in here in Vic. Feck. I better stop being a Bampot.

valid points, but I don't think assisted suicide, or as I prefer to call it, Death with Dignity is going to be a free for all.

There are/will be/should be fail safe measures in place to establish quality of life due to terminal illness and/or mental illness.

Bottom line is if someone is desperate enough to die they will find a way legally or illegally, if they are beyond the point of caring there is no repercussion, so shouldn't the hand of humanity be extended to those people and their families and friends?

Dangerous either way

No. No. No. No. lho requests it or not. No bloody way. Another excuse to bump off people. I think Germany did this in the 1930s with disabled children who were classified as imbeciles. They EUTHANISED. So now it’s okay is it? It stinks.

I suffer from that and have definitely thought of going to canada and for only one payment of about 2000 USD I could make all my problems go away by painlessly failling asleep. Yeah if it was legal in the U.S I'd most likely be gone by now

Facts because people die all sorts of ways and there are countless ways of dying specially some parts of the U.S all you need at 18 to buy an AR-15 is an I.D proving you're 18... you can buy an assault weapon but can't buy alcohol yet U.S.A logic

I have to say I agree with the select few, regarding the fact there are way too many possibilities of abusing this freedom, especially anyone who suffers from a mental health challenge. Mental health issues aside, even a person deemed able to make their own decisions for their best interest, if that person chose "Death with Dignity", now add a will to that , to be divided, or their spouse undergoing endless insurance battles, people will be pointing fingers, making false accusations, and even in cases, factual statements. Family members with less than honorable intentions, etc etc. Idk I see a great deal of major major issues with this.
Damn good question/debate topic.
