The Tracy Chapman song is great but it's not the reason for this post.

I joined Girls Chat almost three years ago. I was 16, in high school, and was trying to find a place to talk to about feelings and things in my life that I couldn't talk about easily in the real world, and hope that maybe some others had been in my spot and could offer their experience, strength, and hope.

In that time, I've graduated. We've seen the weird world of Covid. I'm starting college in a few weeks. I've made some incredible connections with people all around the world. I've been able to open up about things a lot more, and so much of that comes from talking to other members who had been in the same place that I was. And now, I'm in a place where I can help others and try to pay forward being the friend that those previous ones were to me.

I liked that. And I still like that.

But over this time, I feel that the sense of community that first drew me here has dwindled. Our only moderator who fits into the targeted audience of Girls Chat (girls aged 13 to 17) was fired today because of her refusal to kowtow to a person who is a longtime and well-known problem on this site. That person, despite a history of questionable behavior was apologized to and-- while not given carte blanche to do as he pleases-- was given the freedom to roam openly. Maybe you should ask Neville Chamberlain how well appeasement works. You know deep down that he will return to his old ways soon enough.

We have had to be accepting of having males in a place that's really not designed for them. We have one essentially serving as the #2 in charge now even after being fired previously. His history of harassment is well-known. I have talked to many girls who no longer feel safe here because he has been given power once again. I am among them.

I truly feel that the new administrator is indifferent toward what we as members actually want and only wants what will consolidate her power and make her job easier. I feel the site's owner only sees us as walking dollar signs-- a way to boost advertising revenue even though it (fortunately) isn't used here, and as easy targets for VIP sales.

I have people here I truly care about. I enjoy talking to them. We've come to be a part of each other's lives even if only in a small way. I'm really going to miss them if I leave.

But we've all become fed up and disgusted by all of the actions over the last month. And it makes me want to pack up and head off into the sunset.

I'm not the only one either. Several have already left. Others are cutting back how often they're here. And with the latest appeasement, several more have decided they're about to be done as well. You are not only losing your target audience, you are actively driving them away with the poor decisions that have been made recently.

So, give me a reason. Why should I stay here? Why should I recommend this place to others?

Because right now, I don't have a good reason.

There is no good reason to stay, the entire point of the site is to waste time anyway. But you are right that some of the decisions made in managing the rooms are retarded (men being allowed girls chat for example). But the only way the admin will ever care what any of the users think is if they leave en masse because of it.

I am so so sorry to here that you feel that way, I am up lifted to know that the previous 3 years under my Administration you had a good time. I can NOT say I agree with all the changes that have occured within Girl Chat room after I stood dawn as the Administrator. I hope you stay safe and find another site that full fill your wants and needs.
 
Did you have a good reason for coming here in the first place, or was it done without thought?

You must be kidding me with this post, what's the Room Admin done that you can't be arsed coming here anymore? She's only been Room Admin for less than a month. Chill out..

If you believe you can do a better job at all this, approach the Room Admin and become a Room Moderator or better still place your feedback to the Room Admins inbox.

Appreciate what this place has given to you even if it is all just for a "waste of time".

For crying out loud, even Room Admins must follow certain rules.

Be happy or if you can't, feck, come over!

I did have a good time. You weren't perfect, no one is in running a place like this because I don't think there is a perfect way to do it.

But I never questioned whether or not you had the room's best interest at heart in your actions.

Goodness, where to start.

First, I think its priority to say Im truly sorry you feel this way and your concerns are deeply understood and warranted. As a moderator, its not just my job to mute/kick people, in fact for me the most important part is making sure we are keeping a fun atmosphere for our ********, listening to their concerns, and making sure they are valued. Without you all there is no room.

Seeing ******** leave is never something I enjoy reading. Sadly, I know there has been a lot of that recently. I also know the reasons behind people leaving. So on that, I want to say I believe it might all just be a misunderstanding, especially over the most recent topic. I have provided the room admin with evidence of this person recruiting to other sites, as he has done since the very first time, continually doing it now for 3 years. Recruiting is taken very seriously, one of his ******** from his own site was just recently banned as was a couple more doing it for other places.

From my end, you have been with the room for a long time. Through ups and downs, I consider you a friend and a great addition to our little world. Each day I log in, my goal is to always make that place shine. Whether disagreements happen or I click instantly with somebody, I try to always use my position for the better of both the site and the ********. The small things like Hello's and asking about days even makes me smile. Its those things which always drove me to do better and be there for everyone. Im saying this, because you wanted a reason to stay? My reason is because youre valued by me, a lot. As is everyone else. Your concerns are beyond valid, theres a lot of confusion, but with proof provided some of this can now be settled. We cant take action without proof, Ive provided said proof. Now, I hope we can work towards a better future.

Somebody posted Girls Chat isnt what it was back in the day and that hit deep. The old room was amazing, certainly had different vibes and people loved it there. I loved it there. So it got me to thinking, we have every possibility to make that happen in todays room. I;; certainly be making my efforts to do so and I truly hope youre along for the ride 💜

You should leave if coming to a room isn't fun anymore but if it isn't fun anymore then obviously leave. I stopped reading the post because it was really long so I'm making a generic statement that should fit anyone wanting to announce leaving

I was one who posted that GC is done. I don’t want to say who I am in the room, I was registered but now just lurk as a guest. In regards to the person who floods the room, unfortunately nothing could be done to stop him doing this so we are where we are. As I mentioned in a now closed thread the previous admin is now friends with him in les chat which I find peculiar. We all know cuddles is an awful choice for a mod, I doubt he even applied like others are supposed to, but cuddles as mod won’t change either.

I said the other day that the trolls and bad eggs have one, and I suppose people leaving will support this! I suppose they want people to leave, it’s up to the users to give them the satisfaction of driving people away or not!

His record is clean by perv or a pedo thing i understand he should need to be go long time but maybe he tried and didn't get yet a true love or maybe he have some medical problems or maybe he is some kind of bad person but you know world believe on evidence and person who coming for Many years have zero record for any perv or a pedo thing

Mate I feel your pain.

Many of us came to chats for exactly the same reason, so many of the girls I talk to certainly did.

One of my questions to get to know the ******** is to ask them why did they 1st come to a chat site. Second only to loneliness was the reason you stated.

Some thoughts on leadership.

Failure to understand culture leads to chaos and failure.
Failure to know and understand history leads to chaos and failure.

A few of us were working very hard at Making Girls Chat Great Again. We were succeeding by all the measures. Over the past 12 months numbers were increasing. We were doing more fun things. Whilst as with all groups there was occasional conflict, in general we all got on very well.

We were very hopeful that we could create more change in the way things were being done and increase the fun of chat.

The spammer was having virtually 0 effect on any of these things. We were effective in not only mitigating his actions we were being successful in dealing with his real goal which was helping another site recruit.

We have plenty of evidence of this and had mitigated it. Good moderation can deal with a spammer.

Sadly now more recruiters are back and I am noticing some regulars missing in action.

The main income of girls chat is VIP and I would suggest a large portion of our VIPs are gifted by a small group of us. Everyone I have talked to in that group has decided that for the foreseeable future that we can not in good conscience do this for the foreseeable future.

I observe chat is quite messy at the moment and the said spammer has started his trolling again of the younger ******** who had issues with him in the past...how? He likes then unlikes each of their accounts so its a constant harassment. Its covert therefore not actionable.


We know based on history any deal made with this individual never lasts. Why? because his real aim is making recruitment for other sites more effective. Not because of some perceived attack on him.

Its also strange to me we would make a deal with this guy when The Administrator recently banned him.

I feel for those who have been a victim of this individuals actions in the past and I know many of the younger ones has lost a sense of safety in the past couple of weeks.

One thing I will say is that I intend to hang about and concentrate of some of the fun things I have talked about, but will do them in side rooms. Hopefully especially for the younger ones they can find some sort of solace there. Sadly I am afraid we will lose many.
