Upgrade Ignore

And you were very welcome to suggest it. However, putting someone on ignore and having your own posts unavailable to them opens up a wealth of issues that trolls will exploit. Imagine a troll with a vendetta against you, one click makes them invisible to you and they can decide when to do it. They can post all manner of things about you and you wouldn’t see it, you couldn’t screenshot the abuse to lead to a ban. It would be massively exploited. So I’d suggest keeping the ignore system as it is

You have the right to ignore as you allude to and that gives you peace of mind not seeing the blocked persons crap.
Why does it bother you that they can see your posts, unless you’re bashing them? (Not saying you are, of course.)

Also, if I had blocked someone and I had been told that the blocked person was slating me etc; I’d be more concerned the legitimacy of the person who told me that because how would you know if you’ve ignored them? Be realistic. Maybe that’s because I’m wiser. Or just because this is the internet.

1st of all, thank you for being rational and engaging, which can be rare in here, and it's refreshing to actually have a conversation. 2nd, if you were to ignore someone who may have an issue with you, for whatever reason, there is nothing to stop that person from taking screen shots of your comments and reporting you - just because - taking your comments out of context to get you in trouble. But, if you can't see them and they can't see you, that couldn't happen and, I think, the sane people will just move on and enjoy their chatting without the drama. I'm not a basher and if you knew anything about me you would know that. But there are those that even if you ignore them, they can still see you post and will continue to post nasty things about you, causing disruption to the room. So, I feel that it would be better that neither can see the other. Also, I would know if I had ignored someone because anyone can check their ignore list in their profile when they click on Edit and then Manage Ignores. Not sure you're wiser but thank you for you comment. Keep smiling and have a great day.
 
The ignore feature works as stated. My suggestion for the ignore feature to properly work is that when in use the person being ignored should be invisible. Screen name and words and or gifs invisible. Simple. I'm not sure if this system can accommodate this. 🙂 As the way it's set up now. It's the only button you have not to see words that can hurt you.

I understand how Ignore works. When a person is put on ignore, that person is indeed invisible to the person who ignored them. Not sure what you're thinking here.

I'm simply suggesting an upgrade so that both parties are invisible to each other. Maybe you should read the entire post = Simple. The system can accommodate such a change if the powers that be will put it in place.

Disagree. It prevents issues. As it stands now, that troll can collect information of the person that has them on ignore that they post. Pics and other information. If they can't see that I'm finding it hard to understand why that's a bad thing.
 
You men are missing the point... If you can't see them, they can't see you. How can that troll collect info if they can't see you? I'm thinking some have ulterior motives for blocking such a change. Hmmm....

I’m going to ignore Ashlee above making it a gender issue once again. She can’t seem to help herself.

As for my example about trolls, it was one extreme example. However, there are many reasons to put someone on ignore. That is your choice. You can choose who you see and who you don’t in chat. I do not believe that you putting someone on ignore should impact who they can and can’t see. They haven’t chosen to ignore someone. I have no specific reason for this view, it’s just one I hold. Ultimately, I don’t care which way the ignore feature works but I do believe it already serves its purpose.
 
OH MY GODDESS! Dude, it's not a gender issue. Apparently, some men feel that if a girl has something to say they don't agree with, it's a gender issue... I thought we could have a genuine conversation but apparently not. You are totally missing the point and since you feel you need to make this a gender issue, there is no point in carrying this on. I don't understand why you would disagree with such a change unless your position is to slam those that have already ignored you so you can kick them. Makes me wonder now.. hmmm
