FIFA World Cup 2022

Hey girls, if you’re planning on attending the 2022 FIFA World Cup set to be held in Qatar… Stay Away! It is scheduled for November 20 to December 18.

Female football fans are at high risk if they are raped during this event. Qatar’s strict Islamic code outlaws all sexual contact between unmarried couples, making it an offense even if the woman has not consented.

Rape victims have been prosecuted after suspects claimed sex was consensual. While men are usually given a lenient sentence such as time served and a fine or possibly a public flogging, women have been given sentences ranging from public flogging with a whip or stick and even up to seven years in jail.

In one instance in Dubai, a Dutch woman was raped, and she reported what happened, but was arrested. Although Dubai’s laws aren’t as strict as Qatar’s, it was only because it was learned the two men that raped her had made a video so the charges were dropped and she was released. Otherwise, she would have gone to jail for a period to be determined by a male judge. The is no information whether or not the men were charged, but it is doubtful.

Interestingly enough, in Saudi Arabia, if a married male cheats on his wife with a married woman, the man can receive either a fine, a public flogging or both, but if a married woman cheats on her husband, she can be sentenced to public execution, which is usually by beheading.

Actually, rape is a common occurrence at FIFA events. During the 2020 event in England at Wembley, 72 women reported being raped. There is no information available if any of the men involved have been arrested or charged.

I agree with your message, especially about staying safe in Qatar, but can I just state that this is taken word for word from an article in The Sun, an English newspaper known for being absolute bullshit and playing fast and loose with the truth.

Actually, while I did use the Sun article, dated Sept., 2022 as a guide, the Mirror, the New York Post, the Daily Mail, the Washington Post and others are reporting the same information, with different time frames, with different victims but all with the same results, women being prosecuted for being raped because the men are saying it was consensual.

The Mirror reported about a woman, whom I will not name, and the article is dated Feb, 2022, that says, "A female World Cup official has fled Qatar due to the threat of facing 100 lashes and a seven-year jail term for 'extramarital sex', despite reporting she was raped. (name omitted), 28, lodged a complaint with Qatari authorities on June 6, 2021, accusing one of her associates of breaking into her home before raping and threatening to kill her. The Mexican official had been working for the World Cup organising committee and was shocked when she was charged with engaging in 'extramarital sex' by authorities who deemed she had had an affair."

Sorry for the confusion, I’m not disputing your claims about the Middle East in the slightest. They have a terrible record when it comes to human rights violations, especially those surrounding the sexual rights of women. Which is why I emphasised your point that anyone going to Qatar should be extremely careful.

My main dispute was with the claim that 72 women were raped during the final of Euro 2020. This took place in 2021 due to covid, was a UEFA competition, not a FIFA one, and covered a period of five days from the semi-final to the final, in the London count of Brent, where Wembley stadium is location. The truth is, 72 women made claims of sexual crimes in that timeframe, and by definition, a sexual crime is considered anything from sexual harassment using words to rape. While 72 is precisely 72 too many reports, I’d just like to clarify that it wasn’t 72 rapes.

I understand your reluctance to believe some media, but there are other reports such as Today Postimes that reports 72 sexual assaults reported in Brent, north London, when the Euro 2020 semi-finals and final took place at Wembley in July last year – when there were 39 cases at the same tournament in Seville, Spain. While it appears The Sun may have gotten the year wrong or merged separate events, it appears the numbers to be true, not to mention what happened in Spain. Whether it was over a five day period or five years, it's too many and girls just need to be made aware to stay away from those matches period, and lets not quibble about the numbers, one is too many.
