Alright, if you all don't mind I'm going to add my two cents here!
I am one of NorCal's bigger fans, despite what I might say here on Forums, as I said on my profile he's a real chill guy and he deserves respect. I've heard on Forums that moderators and admins can't be held at a higher pedastole but honestly I have to disagree. NorCal not only has authority but he uses it sparingly, which to some degree is admirable. He doesn't make rash decisions and he acts as how a police department would - plan things out ahead and collect firm evidence, undoubtedly to report his findings to real law enforcement and ensure something is done.
But... this... is almost out-of-character. I want to give NorCal the benefit of the doubt and say he is probably having a bad day (or the stress of 400-something mostly-teens nagging him is getting to him) but this really sets a dark precedent. I'm glad something was done in the end and I'm very glad Xavier took as much action as he physically could, despite his victim-blaming, he pulled through and did the right thing. Much love to him, he's one of the real ones. If all moderators could be like Xavier... well... maybe Chat Avenue would be safer. Instead, we have a few moderators that do jack-all, tell people to "just block" instead of actually doing their jobs, etc. I hope NorCal winds up being more like Xavier and not like the latter. Again, much love, albeit some tough love.
Something I've advocated for in the past was more transparency. I understand the need for a thick veil in these types of cases, but if a simple "I'll look into it, just iggy" was sent instead of "Just iggy" - this whole thread might've been avoided and we'd all be sipping tea/hot-cocoa enjoying our mornings/afternoons. But we're here, and some of us are reading me rant.
Anyways, that's my two cents (more like a whole quarter but oh well)
