There are laws and then there are rules. A country has laws; you should abide by those laws. This site has rules; you should *also* abide by those rules. They don't cancel each other out and they're not mutually exclusive. If you don't follow the law, your country's authorities can take action against you. If you don't follow the site's rules, the staff can take action against you.

We enforce the SITE rules. Not the laws of a particular state or country. Read the SITE rules and the Terms of Service agreement (TOS). Follow those and you should be fine.

Age of consent in the UK where I’m from is 16. If I was being sexual with a 16yo on this site I’d be demodded, likely banned, and rightly so.

The site’s rule is 18+ for sexual stuff. Don’t like it? Talk to your girlfriend on text, WhatsApp, or any other medium of your choice.

To be very clear, the United States federal age of consent is 18. If you really wanted to site US laws, you would also have read somewhere that if you and the child you're dating are in different states (even if both of those states have a state age of consent of 16 years old), federal age of consent applies. Which is 18, not 16. And, as multiple other staff members have said, your actions are in breach of Chat Avenue's terms of service. You're an adult in a relationship with a minor. You deserve a ban in addition to your kick.
