Further discussion of Gay Chat

The last time I posted about Gay chat, it was a post of anger, ignorance and confusion. I wanted to revise what I said in a calm and reasonable manner.

My biggest problem with and still somewhat still is with Gay Chat is the amount of adults preying after minors. Obviously I don’t need to explain why it’s bad, but it’s just the amount of messages that appear on screen is overwhelming. Asking or giving links, discussing the things they want to do to them, asking for parents with kids, it’s truly scary. I find it hard to be on the site due to all those messages popping up again and again nonstop. I will never understand how someone can do or say those things about children and I hope the worst for those kind of people.

I also want to apologize to the mods of Gay Chat, I never realized how powerful your presence in the chat room does. Those people immediately go silent and it’s such a relief to know you guys are there to keep the peace. Also, the mods I have talked to have been extremely helpful and thoughtful about the questions I have. I wanted to point the figure at someone, but I pointed it at the wrong people, and the mods helped me realize that. At the end of the day, those people know they shouldn’t be doing those things, and the fact they don’t care doesn’t do them any good. You guys have been doing this for years and I acted like a Karen to something I knew nothing about.

What I have realized the most though is that every mod, admin, and anyone in power of these sites all are one thing, human. Being human means you are going to make mistakes, you are going to miss things, you are going to say or do the wrong thing. I didn’t take into account any of that in my previous post, I expected 24/7 immediate bans and coverage over every member in the room. I didn’t take into account those who bypass the vpn blocker and continue to break the rules. That was beyond stupid of me, and I apologize for that as well. And the bot in the room can do some good to so thanks for making it, it probably was difficult.

As for what happens in the future, I hope that you guys continue to enjoy your job and hopefully we can all enjoy a pedo free, adult only chat room like it was intended. So if any of you guys see this thanks for doing all you can and I wish you guys the best.

Unfortunately, it’s like that in most rooms. Mods clear the reports, remove all the bad people, but a lot go silent and if they’re not reported, we may have missed their posts. After clearing the reports, I often scroll back as far as I can looking for ones that may not have been reported. Just remember, we really do our best to keep these horrible people out of all the rooms. You could also apply to be a moderator of you favourite room.

I wish I could, but after my last post, Chopper himself said that I’ll never get that opportunity. And I can only blame myself for that.

its incredible until your muted/booted by the mod you didnt see on the list.

the argument would be but then i deserved it.. the answer is yes and no.

many years ago all admins and mod had invisible until the feature was abused and used to mass kick the entire room. usually done when someone wanted to hand in their 2 week notice.
 
All staff in all the rooms do the best under the circumstances. Some rooms move slower than others , allowing more off a control over what's posted. We heavily rely on the good and genuine ******** to report if they think a post is offensive. A lot goes on behind the chat that is not seen . I think its big to voice mistakes and misunderstanding , to the forums and appreciate the comments made .

Right before I quit adult chat I believe it was around 1950 lol (A joke) I was bored and tried to kick every single chatter out of that room. For those mods who may be thinking of doing this DON"T. It is much harder than it seems.

Well I must say this is refreshing. A non bitchy wall of text paragraphed and everything. Kudos for that.

Posts of anger are usually met with anger on here. I don't have much to say here as I have a lot to catch up with, but thank you.
