Andrew 31 Thief.

Andrew was having a rough nights sleep kept tossing and turning because all he kept thinking about was how the bread he bought yesterday was going to taste Sunday. The baker and bakery promote how fresh his bread is local and the locally sourced ingredients. So for lunch o decided to taste the bread and my disbelief it was stale! I was lied to and decided action needed be taken. I was going to carry a revengé plot against this baker/bakery for the lying they have done to many customers!

Herman, 70, another thief (sorry).

Herman was getting very tired of the ever-increasing prices of bread. He loved eating bread. It was his favorite snack. Although he was getting on in years, he maintained an impressive physical condition. (Switching to Herman's POV.)

Yesterday, I purchased a large and expensive cut of fine bread from the local breadery. When I opened it today, it was growing mold, so of course I went to get a refund on my $50 cut of bread. But the breadery refused to pay me back! Bread is already darned expensive enough, and this is despicable. As a good upstanding citizen, I won't allow this to happen again!

Alejandro 19 employee/stock

It was 3:14 pm and my shift was almost over. The owner of the bakery was a cheapskate that took advantage of his employees and paid them the least possible ever ($8 an hour). I really dislike this job, but it’s easy and I only had to put up with it until I was done with college. The owner had strict rules about throwing out bread, we are only supposed to keep the bread on the shelf for 2 weeks, but he would make me change the date on bread that had no mold on it, keeping the bread in the shelf for as long as 4 weeks!! He would tell me “put the old bread at the front to make sure they buy it” and to keep my job I did what I was told, I got paid nothing and didn’t really care about the reputation. Today around 3:20 pm I saw a customer pick up the 3 week old loaf of bread slightly moldy on the sides, and for sure stale.

So i plotted my revenge the i posted a craigslist add seeking help with a specific job in mind….so many thoughts racing through my head as well as so many different feelings do i possibly want to go through with this POSSIBLE MURDER OVER SOME STALE BREAD….YES!

Twigg, the Goliath Paladin Chef
The towering goliath wipes flour on his apron, a broad smile creasing his craggy but kind features. The smell of herbs and yeast wafts from him. The scar over his left eye and the bulge of his muscles weren’t earned in a bakery, but he long ago traded a warhammer for a rolling pin, and armor for a chef’s smock.

Seeing as my post on Craigs list got no responses i called up my old buddy Herman. @Radiation Told him that i wanted revenged and what he told me next was crazy!

I agreed wholeheartedly with this plot of revenge. After all, they certainly deserved it. I had recently finished building an explosive device, but it required attachment to the building's circuit box to work properly. The circuit box was hidden in the heavily guarded basement. Why it was guarded so, I didn't know... but I knew what we needed to do.

At the restaurant we were eating at Alejandro @Apollo overheard saying he would squeal and call the cops if we didn’t let him join in. So we told him he could have the role distracting Twigg so we could get to the circuit box quick and easily. He then proceeded to tell us his brilliant distraction plan.

Kd, 29 the innocent customer
Kd walked in at about 3:20pm on a Friday, a few workers around her were working their shifts. One was stocking shelves and a couple were talking to other customers. She went over to the bread area and grabbed a loaf of bread. After looking at the bread she noticed how moldy it had gotten. She went over to the owner and told him that she had been a customer for years and never seen this much mold before in a loaf of bread. She gets home and starts reading the reviews of this place on ******. She thinks in her head, “what a shame, this establishment has gone downhill.” Then she thinks about what to do next….

So me @Radiation @Apollo characters see this real crappy review on the interwebs. It turns out that it’s Alejandr’s Girlfriend @Kd. who wrote it. So we go to pick her up and Herman fills her in the plan.

I informed Kd about our plan to break into the establishment, enter the basement, attach my explosive device to the circuit box, and blow the place to bits. I also informed her that the basement was very heavily guarded, and we should be prepared for anything, as this place probably wasn't what it seemed...

Kd decides to tell the team about how many guns she owns and we all make a plan to bring the guns with us so we can guard ourselves incase something happens.

So we decide Kd’s boyfriend is going to distract the female guards with his young with and charm.

@Creed101 and @Kd. , once hunched over drinks, but now they wheel around the pub, spitting and snarling like angry cats. Fists and tankards fly, landing with crunches and splashes. Shattering glass joins shattering bone, but still the pub’s musicians play on, as if encouraging the violence.

As the day went on and I left my shift after telling these two men I had a brilliant plan I thought to myself… is this even worth it? I had applied to a lot of universities and I was ready to leave high school behind and with that this shitty job and the girl friend I currently have… since deep down I was craving another gender.

I decided that today was my last day, I also decided not to tell the owner as he owed me too much money and I didn’t see that that money coming my way if I told him I was quitting. So my idea was to break in with the keys the owner had let me borrow, since the owner was too lazy to wake up early enough to open the shop. I’m breaking in tonight and stealing the money that he keeps in the back safe, and I guess I’ll bring these people that want revenge with me.. although I don’t care for revenge I just want my money.

So Me @Kd. and @Radiation (Herman) meet up with Alihandro and he shows us his gun collection. I take a Pistol, Sniper and some Smoke Grenades just it case we need to make a quick getaway. As i wait for the rest to pick their guns SO WE CAN ROLL OUT!

I mentioned that I didn't want the annoying Alejandro kid to come with us and that we should just off him instead as he was a liability. I didn't trust him not to take the money and run away, as it seemed he had stolen the guns he brought. I wanted a share of the loot myself, if we succeeded. My co-robbers disagreed with me, though, and it was agreed that Alejandro would be brought along. So we got in the unmarked vehicle with our weapons and gear, and off we went.

As we were headed to the shop I was just thinking of a plan to escape with the money without these fools. During the car ride there I feel someone touch my leg… the car was very dark and didn’t know who was trying to feel up on me. Quickly the hand pulled and yanked on my jeans!! THE KEYS!

The door opens and I get pushed out by the old man. As my body rolls out on the concrete I begin to see nothing but pitch black.

I stand for a minute and laugh and the young naive fool glad that we doubled crossed him. We wanted ”More Dough” for ourselves as we attempt to make our way inside.

I changed my mind. There was something... suspicious about Alejandro. So I quickly stole his keys and pushed him out of the vehicle. This kid would have been nothing but trouble, I knew it. We arrived at our destination, and began surveying the premises. It seemed nobody was there except us.

I awake by a loud thunder *boom* ⚡️ then hear the forest, accompanied by birds chirping and water running. I hear a loud, powerful, but soothing voice “wake up, my child” the voice was so powerful it took over everything, it was deep inside my ear that my brain rumbled as it said those words. I open my eyes, slowly, but surely. It was very bright, and beautiful. I woke up laying down on the cool, soft grass, almost like a cloud. Facing up at the sky and surrounded by tall trees that made a circle, enough for me to see the blue sky with its fluffy clouds. I sat up and looked around, birds and butterflies flying around, deers looking at me, then quickly ignoring me as they were eating. Next to me a gentle river that had the clearest water I’ve ever seen, I couldn’t help but touch the water, it was warm and inviting.. but the voice, who was that? It sounded familiar. The voice said “my son, it is not your time.” Immediately I thought.. “am I…..” the voice replied shortly after “yes you have transcended into the afterlife, Alejando. However, it’s not yet the right time. You will go back into the mortal world to finish the path I have laid for you, and with that comes great power”

Before I could say or think anything I awoke laying on the concrete.. feeling okay.. no scratches, no marks, no pain. I got up and felt strong, as if I wasn’t myself anymore. I took a step and started to float into the air “what the hell?…” super powers. As I realized this I began to feel excitement, then realized… someone had killed me.

Before we went inside I opened my phone, and saw a news report that someone nearby fitting Alejandro's description had been found injured on the roadside, and was currently in the hospital in a comatose state showing unusual brain activity. But, no matter. There was no way of them finding out it was me. So our plan was to proceed as usual.

We see that @Kd. was dragging behind so Me and Hermon get to thinking. While we wait for Kd to respond and catch up….

I impulsively checked my phone again and realized the person in the news report was in fact not Alejandro. I hoped he was dead. Andrew said he wanted to talk with me, so I asked him what was up. Before he could answer, I heard a loud whooshing sound right outside of my car...

RAGE is what I felt. I flew at the speed of light to catch up to my killer. There he is. I break into the car and grabbed Hermon by the shirt and flew up to the night sky as he was screaming and possibly pissing himself. I asked “WHY did you kill me?”

I'm a psychopath, so I showed no signs of fear. I told him the truth... I had thought he would steal the money, and I didn't want that happening.

Empathy took over me. He still killed me though so I decided to drop him but before dropping I said “not good enough, adios amigo”. I caught up to him before hitting the ground, and laid him down carefully. I flew away never to be seen again. “I’m free”.

That happened. I decided to "shoot the bird out of the sky" so to speak, to ensure Alejandro truly would never be seen again. I waited until I heard the sickening splatter of flesh on pavement. Then I asked Andrew to let me know what he had intended to tell me earlier, when we were so rudely interrupted.

That we need to murder off @Kd. so we do a faster job and get past. @Janae

I told him that Kd was skilled (and also beautiful, and may be able to distract the guards), and that we would have a far lower chance of a successful raid if we killed off anyone else.

I go on to tell him to scroll to back in time (page 1) to see what the guard looks like using his mind.

Whoops.

I remembered seeing the guards, and their imposing appearance. We would need something more powerful than Kd to distract the guards. So I dig up my trusty pipe bomb, and set it off at the back of the building.

It makes a loud boom. (Waits for @Janae to respond.)

@Kd. barks commands at her allies as they regroup, preparing for the next assault. Sweat glistens on her skin as she assesses the situation, her brilliant mind extrapolating all potential outcomes with incredible speed. She pictures the scene—viewing combatants from above like pieces on a board—and a smile creeps across her maw. Climbing atop the barricade she weaves arcane gestures in the smoke-filled air, her movements lithe yet precise. Glittering magenta energy settles over her allies, imbuing them with supernatural speed and skill.

At that point, we entered the building with our weapons. After a short bout of physical combat between Andrew and a security guard, I put said guard out of commission. Nothing of interest happened immediately thereafter, and we reached the door with no further incidents.

So we get to the door and notice it’s locked so i easily pick it and we open it.

The treasury of a castle is usually its most secure room, and this one is no exception. With a single entrance guarded day and night and with no windows or other portals allowing one into the interior chamber, this is where the majority of the household’s wealth is kept under lock and key. Iron strongboxes fastened with no-nonsense padlocks represent both a stern challenge as well as incredible temptation to any would-be thief worth their salt.

But this is no match for the brains of Herman! @Radiation

I asked Herman if he was ready as we proceeded through the dank underground tunnel. He said he could blow through anything or anyone with his MiniBlowtorch 3000. We then reached the end of the tunnel and found a very sturdy looking iron door. We couldn't have easily gotten past this. "They wouldn't have just left it unlocked... would they?"

You know your Herman.

So it wasn’t as easy as they thought we see the walls starting to cave in with spikes like in an Indiana Jones Movie thankfully i hit the switch with a Baseball and stops. We make it to the next room and a nail grazes Herman in the leg.

Frankly I didn't give a 🦆 about Herman's leg, so on we went. In the next room, we saw iron chests sitting on shelves, seemingly unguarded... could this be the treasure we had decided to go after?

So me and Herman got to the ”Dough” at last!!!!

Heaps of coins, speckled with colourful gems and studded with beautiful trinkets, rise and fall like dunes in a desert. Chests, barrels, and coffers lie half-buried in the treasure, like sunken ships swallowed by sand on the sea floor. Forget ransoming kings, wealth such as this could buy their kingdoms. But there, in the shadows, at the very edge of a high ledge, sits a treasure chest burst open, its contents spilled around it like the gore of a fallen foe, yet something red pools on the cracked stone around the chest.

It’s super shiny and me and @Radiation Herman DASH FOR IT!!!!

Your gaze is caught by a gleam in the shadows, and your eyes widen at the sight before you. A heap of glittering coins spills out from a broken bag like the fruits of a cornucopia. Blackened silver coins and greened copper do nothing to dull the glory of the gold. It’s no wonder the heavy load broke the seams of the sack, but who would leave such wealth lying in a pile on the ground? Even the most primal dragons take great pride in their home. The hoard must be worth tens of thousands. Reaching the chest it appears mundane, crafted of simple wooden planks and banded with iron. The wood shows its age, graying and somewhat brittle to the touch. You reach cautiously forward to lift the lid, but stop suddenly as the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Panic grips your gut as you notice something—dried blood, just to the left of the chest’s lock. There’s a whirring click, and your mind races to process the sudden pain that lances through the palm of your hand. As quickly as the hidden needle stabbed outward, it retracts with a snap, leaving your hand bloody. You grimace, and an abrupt fatigue overtakes you. Your vision begins to swim.

We finally did it got the treasure but now we need to make it out alive. @Radiation

Herman was too hasty to grab the treasure. It seemed he had been injected with some sort of drug. Then, I heard the sound of around ten people heading towards the treasure chamber. Since Herman was already passing out, I realized that if I tried to rescue him both of us would die. So I began to make my escape. In a panic, I noticed that the doorway we entered through was blocked off... so I hid in a convenient utility closet.

Slinking as stealthily as a spider, @Creed101 inches along the rafters, with both hands and feet grasping the wood beams. His form is hidden in the shadows, the light of torches, moon, and stars unable to reach me. He watches and waits, patience and silence now key.
@Radiation hides in a barrel tucked in the corner of the closet. The reek of stale beer makes his eyes water as he crouch in the damp, old barrel. His legs began to burn with exertion — perhaps his body trying to tell him this was a poor hiding spot. Trying to take small, shallow breaths to keep the fetid, stagnant air out of his lungs. He must stay in here until my patrol have given up, or He'll have more to worry about than sore legs.
I dart for cover. I wait a second. Then I look for an opportunity to move to a different position while staying hidden. If I remain unseen, I can keep hiding or emerge where no one is looking.

Eventually as are still escaping we notice a dark shadow….

Like an ominous, roiling fog on a stormy sea, the Dread Shadow appears as pale as a dead man's flesh, his eyes two abyssal pools, promising a slow, painful death to any who cross him or get in his way. The pirate walks as if in shadow, his dark attire black as a moonless night. With a casual flick of his wrist he calls the darkness to him, bending it to his will as he wields shadows like forged steel.
Silently creeping from our hiding spots we gather near the door. Quickly I pull the from my backpack a slender tube. Mind-bending symbols cover this scroll case in shimmering golden runes which seem to dance and shift in the light. Polished lavender gems cap the tube at each end, and a fine leather strap is strung between them on gleaming buckles. From the tube I pull the parchment quietly unrolling in. The worn, yellowed parchment smells like an ancient library, and strange symbols cover the page like a maddening puzzle. The scroll is bordered by delicate floral wreaths, which shimmer with flakes of gold leaf despite its age. My fingers tingle as I hold the scroll and feel the magical energy roiling within—waiting to be released. The script burns brightly then fades to a warm glow, like the embers of a dying fire, softly illuminating the scroll.

In one instant, you perceive your surroundings; the next, you peer through space and reality to see our destination. Suddenly overtaken by a strange, invasive feeling—like being grabbed from behind. Before we can make any sense of it, our surroundings blur, and with a strange droning hum, find ourselves hurtling through the cosmos, yanked through time and space against our will to . . . somewhere else.

The Dread sShadow.

…out of this world let me take you now - the "Dread Shadow" whispered from behind.
Take this chance or lose it for the eternity.
Woods there look beautiful contrasted with the setting darkness and as one looks out into the depths of the trees, the feeling to stay a little longer is evident.
No one there turns off the lights as they want to see the Spring inside your eyes... let me take you all and you will see.

However there are things we're bound to do and much distance to cover before we can relax for the trip.

The shadowy skull dissipates and its ichor spreads, the darkness so absolute that it seems to drink in the light around it. Trees topple, plants wither, and all around us, dust and ash swirl. Shadowy hands emerge from the portal, grasping rocks as they heave themselves forward to slither across the landscape like hungering beasts, eager to drown the light.
The surrounding night breathes as a towering, vaguely humanoid shape detaches itself from the shadows. The creature strides forward on lanky legs, with wicked and clawed forelimbs, long, dragging along the ground. Shadows waft from it like wisps of smoke, and though corporeal, its gaunt and hairless frame appears composed of the same shadow like flames wafting from it. Ram-like horns curve fiendishly from the thing’s sloped forehead, and its sunken eyes suddenly alight with a ghostly vapor.

"Bring along your Mulberry Silk Pillowcase" - said the Shadow, cause we about to dream everyone's dream.
This trip is "par excellence" a pleasure that lasts longer, much longer than he does...
The portal is now open!
Amid the infinitely greened hills, the rolling verdant hues that flow into gold, is the road. From there on the road stretches onward...
Oh, and mind that there is no road for those who still use automobiles.
Now, Lets make haste, with burning desire until our soul ignites to fire...

As we travel over the sprawling plains—through a sea of hip-deep grass—we pick your way over the hills, following deer trails and bear paths as we find them. We only rest twice in the shade of a tree and enjoy a meager meal of trail rations. We press on, despite our weariness. The travel is hard, but finally, as the sun dips behind the distant hills, we find our objective.
The leviathan mass of earth and stone looms high above, eclipsing the sun as it passes overhead. The walls, parapets, and turrets of a fortified castle rise from the floating landmass, evoking the image of a stone fortress yanked from its foundations like a weed from a garden. The shadow of the floating castle travels across the landscape.

…than, in the distance, as we approached the caste, we saw the " Fiery Snake " making its exit from the castle.
Shifting from left to right in a up-downward motion, spewing volcanic lava out of the mouth.
Clearly, the keeper of the stone fortress trying to alert uninvited guest approaching closer.
It was five o'clock and we all felt the imminent danger... as if the sands of time for us were running low.

There is scarcely a sound to warn you before a plume of white-hot flame suddenly scorches the area, fanning back and forth with raw intensity. The sheer heat is enough to melt hard metals and to bubble stone. None caught within the stream of pure flame can possibly survive. Such intense flames are not the product of wizardry or alchemy—this is dragon fire in our midst, somehow, and our every nerve screams at you to flee.

The serpent's wrath hits like a hammer blow as our minds rush to take in the scene before us. Its body erupts into movement, like several volcanoes exploding at once. Its tail slashes the air, powerfully muscled limbs strike out with terrible claws, even as wings flap and fend off, like great webbed hands. All the while, its huge, fanged maw roars from its sinuous neck, promising death by bite or breath.

Scales part like threadbare cotton where @Creed101 sword slashes the dragon, and the blade shimmers with a radiant blue light. Humming softly as the energy courses through it, the weapon vibrates with potent enchantment as we all ready ourselves to draw draconic blood.

My attack goes wide—but of course, I meant it to. I smirk, the shot ricochets off something behind them. And the attack hits home from a surprising angle.

@Bac Spotting an opening in the dragon's defensive scales, taking careful aim for a vulnerable gap in it's armor. He strikes with exactness and speed. When the attack hits and penetrates that weak spot, it deals more damage than it might have with less precision.

@Radiation grips his axe, lifting it as high as he can over my head, then hurl himself forward. Off balance, without concern for his safety, or any way to parry, using momentum and the weight of the great broad axe to inflict a nasty blow.

As all the action is going on and Creed is slashing he notices the door and tires to dash for it.

Jutting stones lean against one another, forming a crude doorway. A light emanates from the portal—the deep purple of a bruise—beckoning you forward despite its sinister aura. From the portal, you smell fresh earth, tinged with cinnamon. A warmth, completely unknown here, seems to waft from it.
Passing through the door felt like the hopeless voice of a jail cell opening, and then the horrible fate promised by its metallic slam behind you. Now, wrapped in ruby glow and the parching heat, the open land of complete freedom stretches ahead. Everything done here is entertainment for the malicious and insane.
No layer of hell is without its unique horror. The magmafields, the acidic swamps—each level more oppressive and punishing than the last, connected at a primal level by an oppressive air of misery and purest, primal evil.
It would strike you as funny if it weren't so repellent. The landscape of Hell mimics a garden, but instead of pretty lanes of manicured plants, there are bouquets of fatty flesh and gory muscle. A pathway cobbled by skulls is bordered by channels of what must be blood. Scabs float atop the slow flow of crimson liquid, sloughed off from the limbs of overhanging bodies, torn apart and bound together with razor wire to create something like trees. As you stare in horror, a bloodshot eye in one of the trunks of tortured flesh blinks.

(Not wanting to interrupt but just wanted to say you all are really good writers! Especially Janae 👌🏻)

See the original tough bread. Thanks also this was super fun.

My leg broken and cut up looking at the bloodshot creature. It stares at me looking hungry. Hungry for flesh. I want to sacrifice @Kd. or @Radiation. (Herman.) I think for a second…AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I DO PUSHING THEM TOWARDS THE CREATURES. Then i rush to the door with treasure in hand and look back to see the monsters tearing both their flesh apart it’s gruesome.

Now that i have all this treasure I CAN FINALLY GO GET SOME MORE BREAD!

The screaming stopped, the music ended, but a spirit remains in this place. Perhaps she always will. You know she is still sad, but she no longer seems fearful. You hope that your intervention has ended the evil—that the asylum can now become the haunt of all the little living things that take up residence, living rent free in your head, in the ruins. But when you hear the ghost’s melancholy voice cry out to you again, it feels like a vain hope.
Time to break bread.

The End
