mod names

I dont know where to put this so forgive me if its in the wrong area. Is it a rule mods cant change their names in chat rooms becuase they have to match the forum names or they get demoted. A mod told me this in a chat room but I NEVER heard of this rule and i know for a fact all mods dont match the forums name.
So either they are misinformed or Admins can make rules for mods with names and forums.
I guess I made the post to ask if they are misinformed or if admins are allowed to tell mods their names have to match forum names or they will be demoted.

I always thought the rule was you can change it, as long as its still clear its you. Example from me: I tend to switch the in chat name from soapie to Sophie, or other way round.

If I went from soapie to twinkleTits... yeah, may be hard to tell its me lol

Was always the rule that Mod names had to ( where possible ) match forum names . But having said that with all the "Mods" hired in a certain room and being fired/quitting/rehired/quitting AGAIN that would be impossible 😆
