I think access to certain forums should be restricted to underage users (genius edition)

This was the last suggestion given to "restrict" access to underage users.

This is quite and utterly pointless because people already IGNORE that bubble. Explain to me how adding more text to this bubble that people already ignore is going to help.

Heres a better solution. PUNISH CHILDREN.

Group all threads that are supposed to restrict access to underage users onto 1 thread. Make the rest of the forums children friendly.
Something to this effect.

MODS and USERS can use the tools already at their disposal to report children who are sticking their noses where it dont belong.
This can be achieved by simply hovering over the active member list.

This would only require two things.
Global activation of a persons birthyear (used to identify if theyre UA)
Global activation of a persons current activity (used to identify that theyre not viewing the 18+ section)

ADULTS posting ADULT content outside of that thread would also equally be punished. This can already be reported by hitting the report button at the bottom of their post.

Come up with a better solution.
Pro tip: you can't

So everyone should be forced to reveal their age and forums activity to the public just to enforce this? Seems like a bad idea. Plus, there's absolutely no reason someone couldn't register their account with a fake date of birth.

You hit the nail right on the head.

You will never prevent someone from faking a registration/profile unless you manage a site with age verification. That would require all its users to willingly submit Identification in order to have a registered account. Something to the effect of Turo or ******** or any other "adult sites" that have a "sign up with a credit card" registration. This place is none of that. Its a lax entertainment site full of people you wouldnt trust with personal and sensitive information.

So that leaves age reveal. What is so bad about someone finding out how old you are? This is something that is shared commonly and willingly shared in chat as well as your persons sex and (rough)location.

^see nothing dangerous or harmful in sharing your age @Creed101
Note: you still have the option to leave your birthdate private (sensitive information). Age, not so much.

So @Radiation
1. Tell me how that is a worse idea than letting minors openly view 18+ forums with no punishment?
2. Tell me what better idea you can propose since you call mine "bad"?

@Elroy2017k

1. The options exist to hide your age and current forums activity for a reason. Some people don't wish to share that information.
2. A better solution would be to not allow NSFW content in the adult forum at all. The required age for posting would still be 18+, but it would be about the adult chat room and also allow clean conversations. Then we wouldn't have to worry about preventing viewing at all.

The forum activity ticked on by default, it would just require the option not to change it. (possible).
Why wouldnt you want to display your age?(possible)
Unless you are doing nefarious things with OA users then theres no reason the mere display of your age is something that poses a threat. If anything it helps identify threats because it helps moderators discern when OA/UA people are doing something innapropriate. Having a publically displayable age would only enable the chat-ave community to also aid in reporting.

That solution is both impractical and impossible. Chat-ave forums is a subsidiary of chat-ave. Chat-ave is a sex site. A sex site full of adults. Adults talk about sex, sexually related, and adult topics. Its not my site but chat-ave allows children to visit it. I can not change that, otherwise i wouldnt allow children or invite children to join this site. That decision woult also mean we wouldnt have to worry about preventing viewing. Fact of the matter is, children are allowed. We have two different groups of people with 2 mindsets that shouldnt mix but are. My solution works around CMs (site owner) decision, yours would require changing it entirely.

Some people may not want info about themselves shown publicly. People wanting privacy doesn't mean they're doing something nefarious.

And changing the NSFW rule for adult forums would be a very inconsequential change considering there's been like one sexual thread active in that subforum lately.

Arent you 16?
How would you know theres sexual threads in there, youre not supposed to be in there.

This is precisely why we need to enforce not only the posting of 18+content but also the viewing of such content by minors.

Bread...you been busted talking to minors about inappropriate topics... You also posted a woman in sexy cloths, talking like a baby yesterday. If anyone should stop worrying about talking to kids, it is you. Stop pretending like you care.

Yes that’s exactly what I’m telling you. There are all kinds of chat rooms on this site. It’s NOT just a sex site. 🤦🏻‍♂️
thats not what you said

you said:
"its not a sex site"
not
"Its not JUST a sex site"

The inclusion of the word JUST means it is also a sex site. Meaning you are changing your statement. Just admit you got owned.

😂 I already knew that but I guess I didn’t realize the depth of the idiocy 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
Idiocy is claiming you meant to say one thing when you said another thing entirely. You got owned.

Do you have any idea how petty and immature you sound? Arguing over one word? It’s really getting cringy at this point. 😬

But I’ll allow you the last word. Go ahead. Give it your best shot. Thrill me with your acumen.
