There's a stoutly middle-aged woman in my class who never fails to mention her MA in creative writing and the fact she was published at 18 (probably by herself) and a small part of me dies every time she launches into a barely relevant spiel to confirm her self-serving bias. Credit to her for managing to bring it up regardless of what's being discussed at the time.When she begins to speak there is a collective shift in the rest of the people: a soundless, apathetic groan lamenting the inevitabel shitstorm of self-absorbed nonsense we're too polite to not endure.
