So, as I was saying before my original thread got derailed and wrongly moved, proving the point I was trying to make.

I don't think it's a good idea for forum mods/admins to be able to move,delete, close threads that they start or that they are the topic of or involved in. And especially able to edit posts or dms at will with absolutely no time limit on when they can be edited. It is a huge conflict of interest. When any kind of conversation or discussion can be endlessly manipulated. This is even more egregious as far as forum dms go. More so when the forum mods are also room admins. These are staff that users and fellow staff are told to message and come to with any issues. And those messages can be edited or outright deleted to change the narrative of the conversation. How is any user supposed to be able to trust and feel safe having any interaction with someone that has the ability to do all this.

It completely shuts down any meaningful discussions or the ability to come to any proper resolutions at times.

I would go so far as to say the forum staff should be completely different to any staff in the rooms to easily avoid this kind of conflict of interest. I apologize to any forum mods that do the right thing and treat their positions with the respect it deserves. It's a shame bad apples can ruin the experience for everyone.

But it’s stupid Sam, that same exact thing happened to me. I went into singles saw some issues, tried reaching out to the staff which was messy, brought it here not even knowing i as staff had a specific place to post issues and was then hushed unable to even defend my take on the situation and guess what the room is still a burning pile of dirt. No one is allowed to talk publicly, staff should be able to talk to chatter’s negative and positive to help improve things here. Sam I like you alot, you have one of the most welcoming rooms and probably the best staff on this site in terms of engagement with the ******** but the way things get brushed under the rugs is very unfortunate.

What Sam means is this account hasn’t been modded yet and there is a staff forum section so this OG was moved to there meaning out of public eye. I think 🤔

The thread is still available in the shop public General forum. Mr Blunt hasn’t yet been modded on forums and can’t see the Mod Forum so the thread was closed and left where it was for now.

I feel like this thread has been derailed so I’ll help place it back on its tracks.

I don’t think UM’s should be able to edit the posts they make, however, should still be able to edit ******** posts for the sake of ensuring the sites rules are continuously followed.

Antagonizing posts that are used to close threads should come to an end. It does nothing more than aid in the continuance of an unnecessarily aggressive/toxic atmosphere. Granted, some of them can be funny, but it’s always at the expense of another chatter, which in a weird way is a form of bullying. If we don’t allow “humiliation” as a trolling tactic in the rooms, it really shouldn’t be allowed here.

UM’s should be helpful, as consistently kind as possible, and most importantly, neutral. They should be aiding in keeping threads on topic, not adding to it’s derailment.

There’s only a potential conflict of interest with having Room Admin’s as UM’s if one or more positions are being mismanaged/mishandled. It’s something easily rectified with coaching, however, at the end of the day this is all voluntary so “coaching” may not be an extended option.

Some really great suggestions in this thread, though. Thanks for recreating it, Rapi.

This topic is something that seems - excessively focused on parsing words, or grammar? Or more rules? Editgate? 😵

It must be or the last 14 years prior UMimg have been overlooked for some conspicuous reason. 🤔

My opinion is, being Neutral as humanly possible is a given. If you want to put everyone to sleep, make every thread a boring focus group or worse- something that sounds like a psychologists group session that what this "suggestion" sounds like. Because every staff on site member who quips in a forum would have to also be silenced?

As a user I personally like an edit function as it helps fix mistakes, I have helped users here get that feature - It is a good tool for those with disabilities.
