So there's on average between 10 and 30 active members in the forums all the time....but they're never doing anything. it'd be nice if there was some sort of active user chat...so you could interact with users in real time without it having to be in one of the chats...

but feasibility? there used to be tons of features like that back in the day. I think Rocketchat had a plugin for that? anyways...i don't know if that's still a think people still actively maintain as a plugin...but the feasibility and manageability of it would be way more work than anyone would be willing to actually do...

i dunno...i was just thinking the ven diagrams don't overlap for some of those things

there used to be quite a few forums users that never visited the chats. most of the users of forums now are former mods who were forced to use forums as part of the "job" requirement.

a side panel rolling chat plugin would be cool.

however like everything c/a if its not a function forums users usually find a way to work around if forums users wanna chat... we pick someones profile and spam the sh!t outta it.
 
Yeah, that's what i was thinking...there used to be the tag wall...if you remember that...but that got messy and retained chat indefinitely...that wouldn't be the point of this...this would be session based...admittedly i haven't looked to see if there's such a thing
