The Yes/No Game

I didn't! we went back for the right time and it was AMAZING this time around. usually it's four performers but this time it was six...i had to get more cash cause i'd only got enough bills for four

is it warm there today?

if you're in town, for sure. I like the all ages shows best because the 18+ drag brunches bring out the brunch lady squads that objectify the performances like they're male strippers...it's weird

have you been to a drag brunch?

No and I really hope not too. People are bad enough drivers in two axes three would be lethal.

Would you learn to fly a plane?

yes...ish...i used to remember everyone i ever met...their friends...their family...when we had encounters...dating back to like kindergarten...but over the last few years it's started to drop off...not like those memories but forming long lasting new ones of that same quality...slightly concerning

do you have a good sense of smell?

Yes. I used to produce and direct film work. but i guess that was mostly logistically creative to solve problems...not intrinsically to provide esthetic choices of my own...hmmm

would that be artistic?

No I'm Scottish. I live in an area where Gaelic is spoken mostly by younger and middle aged folk.

Do you want to learn any other languages?

Yes...but i probably won't...i wanted to learn Portuguese to round out the americas...and other languages...but i don't have the motivation and i'm pretty adhd for focus on one thing that long anymore lol

do you intend to learn other languages?

Yes I want to learn French. We went climbing in Chamonix this year and stayed with my Mum's boyfriend's friends. I'd have loved to be able to speak to them in their own language.

Have you travelled much?

Yes? I guess that's subjective. I've been to 17 countries in the americas and europe. I try to go somewhere at least once a quarter. Next year is already pretty booked up with new and been to places.

do you have a bucketlist of places you want to visit?

Yes. Mostly climbing destinations. This year was my first visit to France and we walked off a peak into Italy so two countries in one lol.

Have you ever travelled for a sport/occupation.

I've seen a couple locally. To be honest speed climbing isn't my thing. I prefer challenging stuff on rock and use a climbing wall to develop skill and stamina.

Are you interested in climbing?

No. My little sister is though. She travels to climb places. She lives near the mountains in canada specifically have accessible climbing places.

have you been climbing long?

Well leading an E3 6a (E3 is the third grade of extremely severe and 6a means it's exposed with a difficult crux move) pitch isn't entirely without danger I suppose.

Have you ever taken any risks?

Every day of my life. Lol Yeah. I'm sure I have to some degree for some people. Risk tolerance is different for everyone. I bused 17km from Houston to my home in Canada once. I've jumped out of moving vehicles.

What's your risk tolerance?

Low. My life is a game of calculated risk, and I'm generally pretty risk adverse. Safety over happiness.

Do you enjoy traveling?

Yes. Love it. You missed it in earlier questions but I mentioned that I've been to 17 countries across the Americas and Europe and tend to aim to fit a trip in every quarter. the next year and a half is already starting to get booked up.

Does it really work to be safe?

Ahh, I didn't read back to catch up.

I'd say yes, to a degree. There's always an element of unpredictable unknown, but safety can be increased through risk mitigation.

Do you like the taste of cranberries?

There's a lot to read back on...I basically played all day with @SerenityMoon and @emileh

In cranberry sauce.

If the unpredictable is out of your control, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that it either works in your favor or doesn't? So if it either does or doesn't work in your favor, couldn't you just assume that you've got a 50% chance of not sucking? Or, if you wanted to complicate it a little you could say that it'd be a spectrum of suck where it goes from 0 suck to 100 suck so even with that logic 60% suck isn't as bad as 90% suck? What if you wanted to complicate it even more by saying that your ability to control that percentage is so low because you don't know all the factors that could impact that value so rather than ballooning and over inflating that you simply is out of your control? And if it's out of your control, but you know that you'd still be okay with 60% suck because you know that 90% is worse but still not the worst, wouldn't it make sense to leave it just happen? or is that like saying "if you're feeling depressed you should just feel happy"?

I think the flip side can also be said. There might be a possibility of good or bad happening in the unknown, but it's still unknown. Known is predictable, safe, and comfortable. Unknown is unpredictable, potentially unsafe, and uncomfortable. Could the unknown be good? Sure, but no amount of good can change the fact that it's unknown. It's not necessarily about gambling either or not the unknown is good or bad, sometimes it's more of just whether or not to let the unknown in or not.

Would you consider yourself an anxious person?

No. I don't have an inner dialogue so I addition to not feeling anxious to things I also don't have a voice to in my head telling me I should be stressing about things and/or spiral about other things.

Do you take any meds for anxiety?

That I did not know. I hope you find time to spend with family.

Do you invite non-family members to your holiday meals? We are hosting our neighbors and 10 Airmen from Barksdale Air Force base that can't go home for the holidays.

yes. My parents own a replica Victorian house with a tone of rooms. After my sisters and I moved out they just started to invite family and friends to stay for days or weeks at a time. It's like a free B&B for people we know. Along with that goes the open invite to anyone we know to show up to Sunday dinner.

any plans for the weekend?

Yes Same as every weekend during football season. Saturday we host the LSU game for dads friends and Sunday we go to one of his friends homes to watch NFL.

Do you put oysters in your cornbread dressing?

Subjective? we get one almost every month. I think March is the only on that doesn't have one? They made up Family Day here in the 90s because February doesn't have one and with the long winters and after the holidays is known for being the most depressing month.

does your family have traditions for holidays as a whole like specific food, regardless of the holiday reason?

No most of the holidays are spent either out getting some exercise or catching up on stuff.

Are you staying home for christmas?

Yes, this year. I've got other trips planned for 2024 so I'm here this year. Next Christmas will be Chile. Last year was a private villa for 30 in puerto vallarta.

do you go anywhere for christmas?

No not usually. We might be going to France again early next year to do some ice routes.

Is christmas the most important of the holidays for you?

I don't mind it. I'm not a fan of heat and i burn really easily...so as long as it's neither of those...i'm fine.

do you spend more time on your computer?

No. I'm only online a lot at the moment because it's been stormy and is getting dark too early.

Do you spend a lot of time on yours?

Uhh, I work from 8-430pm on my work laptop...and i have my personal one sitting right next to it...which is what i'm using now.

do you use the app at all? (i might have asked that one already)

I mean i guess you can use the mobile site for here...but you can also add it as a shortcut that ends up being a fullscreen version of the site in a browser...i think

Oh. I don't use my phone for this lol so no. I didn't even realise that there is an app.

Are you happy using a phone for things like this?

No. I mean, i will if i'm not at my computer...but i like being able to open up multiple tabs and manages the threads on a larger scren.

if you weren't a mod would you use chat much?

I never used to use a chat site before Covid and the lockdowns. I probably would stick around now, there are people I like talking to here.

Have you used many chat sites?

Yes, technically? before i joined here i was on two others that were dating sites back in the late 90s and early 2000s. One had the same chat server as here...so when i got sick of there i jumped here and started using it....and exploiting it. because me and a few other created some great vulnerabilities we started to hit other chats that used Digichat too. So in that respect i used to use a bunch of chat sites...but after that not at all.

can you believe this place still exists when there's social media?
