Should XL bullies be banned?

I do think dogs should be banned from children’s play parks/areas. I’d rather not risk any chance of a child getting hurt.
They are. There are always 'No dogs allowed' notices on the gates. It's not about the bite risk though, it's about the Toxicara canis risk.

Unfortunately that’s not a deterrent. And then when something like this happens because of people who ignore those signs, again who loses? The dogs.

They will say the humans lose also, which technically they do; ultimately who’s fault?

Government or owner?

The owner and the law should reflect that.

Treat, train and teach them correctly. That’s not to say that’s 100% effective and bites/attacks won’t happen because there’s that possibility in any living being to just snap. (Even me and I’m docile!)

Wait, are you saying ginger’s can be domesticated?? 😱 😉

Agreed!!! That’s what dog parks are for.

I do agree the dangerous dog acts should be reviewed. Too much focus on Cujo/Cerberus and dogs used for fighting etc and trying to justify a ban on all.

I somehow don’t think increased fines on owners would deter. If we can get rid of the status symbol- surely this would change initial thoughts maybe(?)

Well yes but "hard" dogs as a status symbol have always been used. Oliver twist anyone?

Forget the fines unless it's something relatively minor and move straight to custodial and punitive damages that get taken out of anything owned by the morons plus arrestment on income (including benefits) until it's paid once they're out.

Just imagine the outrage…😆

I dont think *banning the dogs makes sense- I do agree with leash and muzzle rules- because some breeds are inherently dangerous due to high prey drive they they may strike something out of instinct/prey drive. Its a shame that all this seems to blame a dog who only real crime is being created by breeders and bad owners.

I think its better to amnesty those who have the dogs ( still require leash and muzzle) and outlaw breeding them, and importing them and Kennel Clubs in the commonwealth should follow suit.

I think that’s pretty much what they’ve done here in the UK with the “ban”. They haven’t said that those with the dogs now have to destroy them although that is a myth that’s doing the rounds online.

In England and Wales. The legislation doesn't apply to Scotland or NI.

They have to register the dogs and get a certificate of exemption, have them neutered, keep them on lead and muzzled in a public place (including cars). It's illegal to breed them, sell them or abandon them as well.

Ill thought out and knee jerk legislation by media as usual...

Sounds like a decent idea for certain men tbh nevermind dogs

Always is. I still can’t believe they don’t collect the stats before outlawing specific breeds
