The Internet: Good Thing or Bad Thing?

Who is this
It's a me

i genuinely believe that the internet is the source for 95% of the problems in america, & the world at large,
because it gets trolled by the russians and other threat actors so easily
like i know im only 23...
that doesn't discount your lived experience as being from a generation that grew up entirely online...that is different to mine that grew up learning to transition from a mostly analog world to an online world...or boomers that mostly feared or opposed getting involved with the online world because it moved too fast for how much they cared to learn.
but, until the internet became wat it is today;

u didnt has 30 different genders w/ 30 different pronouns, bc the weirdos that distort biology didnt has a platform thats accessible to billions of ppl...
yes you did...you just didn't have them spoken about in the western world. there's dozens of cultures that have acknowledged the existence of non-binary genders for centuries
or a mass shooting every other week bc of ppl being *cyberbullied* or being enabled by others sharing extremist ideology on obscure imageboards...
that only apparently proliferate in north america...while you definitely don't see those numbers across the rest of the world, combined. this brings me back to the first point
young adults in western society being brain washed enmasse by religious fundamentalist on social media & flying half way across the world to join terrorist organizations like ISIS...
bill gothard is a good example of this, too.
pedophiles having easy access to lure, groom, & abuse unsuspecting children over the internet, such as wat u see on chatrooms like this...
that's very true. having massive interconnected systems gives access to everyone, everywhere
things werent being constantly cancelled, or appropriated, woke culture didn't exist & become the kitsch cancer that is actually destroying our culture & rewriting history...
we didn't have mass discussion about the appropriate nature of appropriation...about sexuality...about racism...you couldn't educate people on how incredibly wrong all those things were until there was a platform.
deep fakes, catfish, hackers, scam artists, spam, trolling, doxxing, etc;
(all the things u ppl complain about d a i l y here wouldnt exist if the internet wasn't a thing 🍜)

i could go on, & on about why the internet is toxic to society & how it has caused nothing but problems socially with no end in sight that seem to constantly get worse than they actually get better... how accessible it has become, has given actual insanity a voice, the internet either should has never existed or certain ppl shouldnt be allowed on the internet 🤷🏼‍♀️
I read an interesting article about how early days of internet...even up until about 2005...the internet was a place you went to...your desk...a desktop computer...but after that point phones started to become more prevalent with access...sure you had cheep internet browsers on your T9 phone...but it cost more and didn't have any of the functionality they do now...and that after that point it was with you...constantly....for me it was weird going from "oh these apps are apps on your phone" to "oh, these apps are actually online and interconnected" and the sudden realization that that's what they were.

i also realize the bold is probably copied from somewhere or hyperbole about other's reactions towards it...those are just my responses to them.
