Revoke VPNS so mods can do their job

This is FEEDBACK about VPN usage in ALL CHATROOMS.
My SUGGESTION to revoke VPNS entirely, in all rooms, whether VIP or not.

Allowing guests to come in with VPNs and furthermure allowing VIPs to use VPN is contradictory to the act of moderating. Most users who use VPN do so to conceal their identity, and not for good reason. Most people in the chatrooms with concealed identities will ABUSE it because they have essentially no consequence.

This is not a user complaint but ill use this scenario as an EXAMPLE.

In video games chat we have this BANNED l user.

This user has been BANNED from videogamechat but comes in everyday under "guest" accounts. Our mods can not act on this guest because he is under an alternate IP/vpn. They say there is no proof this person is the BANNED user because of their concealed identity. This is essentially gives this BANNED user unlimited access to a room which he was already BANNED from. There will never be any "proof" because this harassing, racist, doxxer will never admit to being the banned user.

He whoever reveals himself through all his harassing context. It is so blatantly obvious this is the BANNED user becaues of his doxxing, flamboyant racism and derogatory remarks towards mexicans in the video games chatroom. Literally everyone can tell its him

Even when they cant he is STUPID enough to reveal himself through his own context.

And our mods are powerless against his abuse and pulling their hair.

Please do not tag killahazee as he is under family bereavement right now and doesnt need the added stress of dealing with the harassment from this BANNED user.

@Chatmaster can you do disable VPN usage so our moderators can do their job.

If you want a technical explanation why that might have problems doing so... It's not about this specifically but covers a lot of the same content, just in reverse, you can read this

How is it going to cause problems for people who have legitimate addresses and not shared addresses?

Is them not bein able to log in doxx and harass under vpns not a problem?

Oh... I was just speaking about the technical side of why VPNs may or may not be blocked, regardless of policy. Nothing more.

Im not sure about other rooms but in Gen Chat, Only VIP can use VPN. not guests. If any troll has a way to circumvent and also be a guest, they seem to have that ability whether they use VPN or not.

A better argument is VPN could help sheild very shady characters, however- users also say that they like VPN as they want to feel safer online..

There have been many threads where guest accounts are pointed to as being a problem, whether VPN is at play or not.

they havethe ability to troll and circumvent as a guest BECAUSE of VPN.

>If its a regular guest it both automatically kicks them if theyre kicked already, and shares the account with the main account if theyre just trolling under disguise.

The reason guests are problematic is because of Ip rolling. Guests themselves are not immune to being reprimanded. Their immunity comes from being able to re-log back in as a new guest under a new vpn. The amount of people who use VPN legitamely is greatly outweighed by the amount of people who use it nefariously.

@Bread. Thanks for asking people not to tag me I do appreciate that, I needed space , I will be around just not as much at the moment cause of obviously what's going on, I am however trying to keep myself busy to not dwell on things also so will be on here and chat a little bit
As for the VPN issue I actually agree with bread on this as a mod it is a nightmare , to stop banned users or trolls as when they use VPN they show no previous accounts and just IP roll to spam

Still wasn't his place. That was YOUR place to announce that one publicly. ❤️

There he's not wrong. It is a NIGHTMARE as a mod. 🙂

Yeah best thing I can do ATM I think is keep myself busy dwelling makes it worse,
It's really frustrating IV spent the last hour dealing with raging spammers cause they can't sit out a kick then they go nuts mode on IP roll , it would be so much better if they removed vpns for all users and made them banned altogether

I personally use a VPN to protect myself online. That being said, I see zero reason why a platform with volunteer moderation and tools such as Chat Avenue's moderation tools should EVER allow VPNs.

If it was Facebook, Instagram, Discord, etc - they don't allow "Guests" and when they do, they are heavily moderated by automatic moderation. The amount someone can do without an email is minimal, and in many cases, these platforms require a PHONE NUMBER if you're using a VPN.

Chat Avenue is not built that way. We don't have any way of proving identity beyond IPs, and we have guests.

I endorse the use of VPNs, but not here. VPNs are only a hindrance here. If my paranoid azz can take the VPN off here, anyone else can.

VPNs shouldn't be allowed, or guests shouldn't be allowed. One has to go.

I side with the loaf of bread.
