How many mutes/kicks does it take to get banned?

We see people all of the time posting about getting banned for what is seemingly a first offense, which many times is proven to not be true.
Nevertheless, there are those that commit the same offense(s) over and over, and they get muted and kicked but don't get banned, then they run to the Forum whining and crying only to be told by staff that they could have been banned but weren't and to be grateful... Huh?
So, why weren't they banned?
It doesn't make sense. It seems to me that if a person has committed the same offense(s) a number of times that staff pretty much has that person(s) flagged, yet if that person(s) is only receiving mutes and kicks over and over, then muting and kicking isn't teaching that person anything about what rules mean. Maybe being banned just might do the trick.
This should apply particularly to 13+ rooms, where men show up exposing themselves and then there is trolling, and there are other examples.
Yet, the question remains:
How many mutes/kicks does it really take before someone can be banned?

Can I ask, are you referring to any specific room or experiences relating to specific rooms or are you asking generally?
 
Depends how you play the game. You could just tap the ball and post a few naughty links or you could go for the full home run and be a total predator (the latter will generally get you a ban as a first offence).

Posting links to other chat sites will also reward you a permanent ban, first time. This is site wide.

It also depends on the regularity of the offence. If you've got a real pain that comes in every hour on the hour just to be a pest then of course a ban is the only way to stop them returning after the standard 2 hour kicks - which of course then many admins will ban (for a day, 2 days, whatever have you), just so the room can get a break from the dim light dulling the vibe.

For minor transgressions it's warn, mute, kick - increasing the time of each mute/kick incrementally.

Edit; I know you're talking about a particular incident which I'm not going to comment on because I didn't witness and don't really have an opinion on. But that's the answer to your question
 
What Coyo said, if you're racking up one or two mute/kicks a week for small infractions, you'll never be banned. It's serious stuff you'll get perm banned for, Doxing, being a pedo, cloning. Etc. not all Room and Mods are the same either and some have a more tolerant and lax approach. If you're going to play the game, be a good sport about it.

Maybe but if a person is racking up more than one or two, but over a period of time, at or about 400 +/- mutes/kicks all for the same reasons... What? Why? Doesn't make sense.

Used to be that 3 warnings were to be given before any kick was issued back in the day except in certain situations and that there was to be no "immediate kick on sight" process to be implemented.

All the comments being said, it's not always worth while to place bans on any one individual for the long term for minor disturbances, especially since the #1 Chat Avenue brand isn't a paid membership site, where users are vetted etc.
 
People get warnings? haha I never had a mute or a kick before but was banned a few months ago. I was having a conversation with someone in private but they would respond in the main chat instead of whispers back. They responded back with a money figure so the mods thought I was soliciting and instantly banned me. Point of the story is that its true some people get banned without any warnings.

Soliciting is always an instant ban. But mistakes happen and are often corrected. Did you appeal at the time of the ban?
 
Yes I appealed right away and the mod I was chatting with was great but said there was nothing they could do because they take soliciting seriously. He said to give it time but like I said it's been months now and I'm still banned. I thought it was odd I was banned when I didn't even post anything in the main chat and the person who did post the money figures is still chatting. Sorry I'm not here to complain just trying to warn others that yes sometimes people get banned with no warning at all

You can appeal that moderators decision by speaking to the administrator of that room (https://forum.chat-avenue.com/threads/want-to-be-a-mod.5548/#post-5548)

They have the discretion to let you off if they feel you weren't given a fair run of things. You should reach out and just be genuine about things. You seem nice so I hope you can get it sorted.
 
Thanks for your help also it really is appreciated but I've already reached out to the moderator of that room. He was great with looking into the situation for me and responding quickly to emails but at the end of the day they kept the ban. I think originally it said the ban was for like 60 years so....maybe I will try again then haha

Moderators don't make the final decisions on bans, the admin does. What room was it?
 
Hey Thanks man for your help. Ness was the Mod I was dealing with so I'm not feeling very optimistic because he already tried to appeal for me with no success. Like I said if I'm banned then I'm banned I just wanted to let people know that it is possible to be banned without warnings at all.
And Coyo you're right man I've been blessed with the help today.

Are you telling this forum someone above Ness, the Video Chat Room Admin, made the election to permanently ban you? Hmm..

Oh yeah if it's a Chatmaster or system administrator issued ban then Ness would need to appeal on your behalf (which by the sounds of it he already has without luck).

I hope you get to return some day amigo, until then feel free to go and mess up College Chat. You have my blessing sir, enjoy yo mischievous chaos
