U.S Health Care system VS Canada Health Care system

Hi, I’m currently an enrolled medical assistant student. Today in class we watched a movie about how the U.S health care system works. It’s sad to see so many Americans have loss their lives due to insurance companies not willing to pay for their care and treatment that could’ve saved so many lives. The movie brought up how Canada’s healthcare system works compared to the U.S. it’s a damn shame seeing Americans have no choice but to marry a Canadian just to get insurance that will approve for them to get the treatment and care that they need. An older European American man was sadly turned down by his insurance to get the treatment he needs to survive so he went over to Canada and they freaking covered everything for him. Thank God he’s now okay. So the question in the movie was brought up, “ What’s your thoughts on socialized medicine?” Ask a Canadian.

Most British people alive today won't remember a time without "free at the point of use" medical care. I hate to think what it would be like to be in the position that so many US Citizens find themselves in.

Our NHS is far from perfect but the latest figures I could find, from 2021, said that total healthcare expenditure for the year was £280.7 billion which equated to £4,188 per person per year (around US$5,432). I found that the average annual cost of health insurance in the USA is US$7,739 (no idea if that figure is accurate), so universal free healthcare isn't as expensive as it's often made out to be.

As a Canadian, I can say our healthcare system isn’t perfect, but knowing you won’t be denied life-saving treatment because of cost is a huge relief. Socialized medicine has its challenges, but it truly puts people over profit. That said, even in Canada, not everything is covered — like some prescription medications. I’ve seen more people turning to options like Buy Ozempic Online for managing diabetes or weight-related issues when access through insurance or providers is limited. It’s not a full solution, but it's helped bridge some gaps.

Hey there! I would Like to give my opinion as being a Canadian, one can feel lucky for the healthcare system there. Illness does not mean going bankrupt, at least not in principle. Stories like these sting the heart and bring to light how much the modern debate should lean toward health as a right and not a privilege.

You have to factor in all of the poor people in the US that simply cannot afford healthcare and avoid doctors and hospitals for that reason. I think the numbers would need some sort of weighting factor to represent the actuality and that doing that would show the NHS costs to actually be lower than the US costs by a good margin.

It's not about healthcare in the US, it's about shareholder profits over humanitarian treatment. US health insurance companies are a disgrace.

I use the Miami VA hospital which I find amazing to say the least as far as Doctors , Nurses , Staff and I have Medicare with supplemental insurance yet by far prefer the VA so enrolled it there .

I have always subscribed for government health care for those who need it more and more jobs in the USA no longer offer it or the employee cost is absurd AND option of Private health care for those who want it .

I have used both as lucky and always had health insurance but my experience with he VA which is government has been outstanding it is not the same VA it was when I got out of Nam it has changed for the best in last 20 years and no one President is responsible for the change .

Now with cut backs the phone wait is longer not faster not more efficient but I'm retired so call and wait , lol but once there I love them .

I subscribe to choices and by that I mean a government run health care if you prefer or again if you prefer a private paid system which I think is now the UK system but not 100 percent sure .

A lot of young people here in USA and people simply not yet 65 do not have insurance perhaps lost it if lost their job and this is immoral ask any old Vet who uses the VA system if we are ignored , put aside due to age and the answer is NO so the argument that some make that government is not concerned about elderly IMO is bogus but again I would like to see people given the option
