Long time forums lurker with very little idea how all of this actually works but here goes nothing…
After hopping through a ton of posts about LC, certain comments hang in my head like “CM prefers quantity over quality” of people who chat. And that CA has all of these “sister sites”. Mix them together with the average long-time lesbian chatter and ex-chatter sentiment that the LC has been tanking for years and it seems logical that there should be a million posts about how to improve LC. Maybe I missed them?
At the risk of being attacked for being insensitive or bigoted, I have to say that you can go to LC at any time of the day or night and lesbians are vastly outnumbered by trans seeking men, femboys, straight men, gay men and a complex array of anything but women who prefer women.
Can’t another chat on Chat Ave or one of its sister sites be designated for all of these other categories of humans? Why is the only space allotted to “lesbians” or women who love women being overrun by all of these men and their unique preferences and fetishes?
LC would see a huge rise in numbers and even coveted VIP membership if it were indeed a LESBIAN chat instead of some creepy “Island of Misfit Toys” where lesbians are outnumbered 20:1 by men seeking other men.
Is this due to admin/mod apathy? Are the urban legends true about LC being run by a man who delights in pretending to be a lesbian himself and choosing other men who pretend to be lesbians? (Sorry, I could not find a clinical term for that persuasion).
Over the years, many lesbians have splintered off to create their own sites and most of them have failed simply because they lack the huge draw and infrastructure of Chat Avenue. Some moved on to visit and mod other CA sites and in a sense, their incursion upon other sites may or may not be as unwelcome to those sites as the men who have overtaken LC. My assumption is the lesbians are not stinking up those sites with spam asking for lewd things—unlike the way the men in LC are polluting that site asking for things that make Urban Dictionary want to blush or barf.
Hoping to open the flood gates of genuine discussion here. I know I’ll be lambasted by snarky forum mods and forum veterans, but so be it. Lesbians deserve a place of their own and should not be forced to chat in a space overrun by men seeking other men. Period.
