Should exposing catfish be considered doxxing ??
Imo it shouldn't.
There have been catfish making plans to meet other ******** in the upcoming months with no proof of who they are
To me this is serious red flags as they know exactly who they're looking for when the time comes and the other person is a sitting duck.
They could easily be taken or killed and nobody would know.
Please do not tell me it's far fetched bc there are several news articles involving this exact chat room/ site involving those exact things.

U all need to be careful on who u talk to and meet with.
I know I prob get on ur nerves by making sure u know ur talking to a catfish but really it's in ur best interest.

doxxing is exposing private information that would otherwise not be available publicly or readily accessible...so you can expose a catfish without doxxing them....
so sharing/posting your name, location or bra size in public then someone posts back who read your public posts with a post that contains your name location or bra size is not doxxing???

plz confirm or deny.

Confirm - stupid enough to tell it stupid enough to be repeated - it clearly stated all over websites keep yourself safe DONT GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION - this is not doxxing

But lets go ahead and discuss this ad nauseam then claim victim or no understanding

eh...that'd be grey i'd say...especially with the rule that you can't self doxx yourself here...but...for the sake of argument and context of the question...id say if you've ousted yourself already in the past...unless that removal was by your own request...then others ought to be able to repost or in the very least share that information...unless you've otherwise made claim to a preference of it not being shared...it's like consent...you should be able to revoke it at any point...but if you don't...from a public perspective...cry wolf situations and rage baiting someone also makes you the perpetrator...not the "doxxer"

For instance a catfish is using a photo which is not them, however is telling chat where the picture was uploaded to and still claiming to be said person.
If anyone in chat goes to this website and takes note of this definitely being a catfish situation is it docking?

Doxing is when you give out identifying information, not calling out a catfish.

Having said that calling out catfish in general is pretty fail as 99.99% of catfish in chat are obvious. The real sneaky ones are rarely caught and the fights when calling them out in chat discourages decent ******** from the site.

I have noticed in Girls Chat the all the obvious catfish tend to have all the obvious catfish as friends, they are mostly catfishing each other.

You can't lecture anyone on being a catfish. Do you even wear an eyepatch?!?!

Playing the devils advocate here (With real world experience working in mental health), while not something someone SHOULD do or one should be okay with, using a fake photo isnt always out of malice. Sometimes people feel like "Hey if I look like this person, Ill be more popular". Self confidence plays a major role in these situations.

Granted its not okay and if used to seek a relationship where the other person is investing real feelings, then it is even worse. I dont condone such actions in any way, just food for thought.

I agree with that. Except when the person starts pretending they’re the person in the picture. That’s when it can spiral into dangerous territories.

Like when caught? Yeah i think when the deal is up, just stop.

Or in the case "Jill" still pretend to be the real identity of "Jane" when its known she isnt, agreed there too.

I think the issue is when it isn't "Jill' or "Jane", it's "Jim".
I mean ill be fair in the criticism of catfishing too, I think when you catfish, whatever gender you end up being doesnt matter as the act has already happened.

So we agree punishment shouldn't be given when a catfish is outted when said catfish is attempting to meet other ********

on SKs train of thought: i think its safer online to use 'fake' pictures than real ones. its not the im ok with them hiding the identity part its the ive seen what people do with others pictures part. g00gle image search is both lovely and helpful and terrifying. just like im ok with "fan accounts" no one actually believes you are David Bowie or Freddy Mercury ( 2 pfp used commonly here). its when you start telling others you are ian somerhalder and kobe bryant or that you are a 20s something female chat admin living in aussie, but really a mid 50's american male on your states S.O.R. is where the line crosses into danger and cat fish.
