US Election 2024: Celebrating or Commiserating?

I am wondering why the women vote was like 55 percent Harris and 45 percent Trump.
Hoping that he can not pass a total abortion ban. If you read the agenda for 2025 it should scare you if you are a female. Ectopic pregnancies can be life endangering. However under 2025 agenda the woman could be arrested for murder or refused treatment at a hospital even if the baby is not viable and the surgery is needed to save a life. Hope none of you have loved ones, family members that are denied life saving care due to all of this.

They’ll just say it’s fake news, because everyone else lies, but Trump never lies.
 
One of Australia's better Prime Ministers once said the electorate always gets it right ( I believe he said it on the day he lost). I tend to go with that whether I like the person who won or not.

Thus far his win has brought interesting results and he is not the President until Jan.

I keep seeing people say he is going to do this or that that is bad and yet he didnt do those things in his 1st term.

I reserve judgement at this stage, history will be his judge in the end.

On a side note, I am an avid watcher of elections, the fact is the Harris Waltz run was terribly organised and poorly executed. She turned out to be an awful candidate. What the Democrats ought to do now is assess and rethink the path they took.
 
And it begins………...as he did in 2016, trump is once again appointing people to run important governmental agencies who have absolutely no business running them.

The Department of Homeland Security is an extremely important group that was created after the 9/11 attacks on this country. It’s a huge group with over 22 other agencies under its umbrella, hundreds of thousands of employees and a $60 billion dollar budget.

He has picked Kristi Noem to lead this department. She is currently the governor of South Dakota. She has been a staunch 2020 election denier even though no evidence of election fraud exists. She not only refused to issue statewide mask mandates while millions of people were dying from Covid-19, she also cheated on her husband and murdered her 14 month old family dog by shooting it with a gun because she said it was “untrainable”.

There are many other examples of her lack of character, morals, and decision making, but people can research them on their own.

Which, in my opinion, is a terrible way to approach it. Politics has become just that, a popularity contest with the best person for the job being selected, pushed to a very distant second.
You always end up wondering, did the electorate vote for that person because they liked them, or did they just hate the other one more...

Canada saw that years ago, we had alot of good things with Harper, he was a great politician, but not the most likeable speaker or person, and the masses decided to vote in a pretty boy, drama teacher who descended from a past PM. It became more about voting the current one out than it did voting the best person in.

It has always been a popularity contest its called democracy....The thing I have come to see yes you have had terrible leadership but perhaps the country needed to learn a lesson from this so it can grow in knowlege to do better in the future. Perhaps the next one to come will have a mandate to make reforms that have been made possible because the previous leader was so bad that they get a mandate to do so.

What are your terms there? 4 years?

The beauty of our systems you can get rid of bad leadership on a regular basis.

Every western nation has had terrible leaders and have thrived.

Unfortunately it’s reality. A reality that the “majority” want. That’s the real scary part.

What is the basic number one rule in stopping a troll online, other than running to a moderator to protect you?

When you figure that out, it works just the same in real life.

Said Troll eventually gets tired, goes away, and isn't heard from anymore.
 
As well as being a bigot, a xenophobic populist who likes to undermine democratic structures/checks and balances, he isn’t really financially savvy either for a businessman. Looks like the Dollar took a plunge.

I don't know about you but I like paying 9 dollars for a carton of eggs.
With the recent retaliatory tariffs from Europe and Canada bourbon will skyrocket which I am okay with since I do not drink.
I am not VIP but there is a hilarious video from Australia where they are all taking turns hitting and kicking a life sized balloon of Donald Trump. I wish someone would post that hear for a good laugh
