PMs reportable

Now I know I’ll get a lot of negative comments on this but I don’t care. And before anyone says I support pedos, let me be clear, I do not and they should be castrated and buried under the prison.

PMs by design are private messages. Definition of private is

adjective
1.
belonging to or for the use of one particular person or group of people only.

Therefore by definition allowing PMs to be reported is hypocritical as PMs are between 2 individuals and should be anonymous. And total anonymity should remain.

If a certain user or users don’t like a PM, then use the ignore feature.

It’s like saying just because a crime happened in the premises of one’s private home, the criminal shouldn’t be reported to the authorities?

Going against the rules doesn’t matter weather in public or private, it is still going against an authority in which they have agreed to, and should be reported and punished.

You jusxtaposed your own answer, if they apply your suggestion of no reporting in PM’s, then how would pedos be punished and removed from the site? Instead they would be given free rein as long as they do it in private.

PMs are subject to the same rules as the room they originate in. If you break the rules and your PM is reported then you can be actioned for that rule break. The rules are there to protect people from predators.

It's very simple: Read the rules and follow the rules and you won't get actioned.

In the realm of the hypocritical Chat Ave PMs are unfortunately actionable. Clearly Chat Ave is not run in the US as if it were a lot of the stuff that goes on here wouldn’t happen. Sadly this site may have been shutdown years ago.

Besides the point, I am afford my own opinion without any retaliation or being made to feel by any user moderator or admin like I’ve said anything wrong.

Get a grip. You posted on a public forum platform. People are allowed to give their opinions back. This is some fairytale land, not everyone is gonna agree with you.

If you'd read my response properly, you would have seen that it was an explanation of how the site moderation works. The reporting system exists to protect our users and covers private messaging as well as the public rooms and is available to all of the users.

There's nothing "hypocritical" about this. The system exists to protect users of the service. If users stay within the rules then no problems arise.

You might also want to read the general Terms of Service. By joining the site and messaging you implicitly accept them.

Almost goes without saying but protecting OMs as private in all respects to include exempt from monitoring would foster an even worse environment for minors wrt pedos. How do you propose to protect them (as you say) by making it a safer environment for pedos? You think I minor should only put a pedo on ignore after the crime has been committed?

You posted a debate for discussion. You acknowledged in your very first sentence:

You are going to receive conflicting options in a debate thread. If you are not prepared to receive those or if they are causing you undo distress, you can request the thread closure by tagging the UMs.

Hello, I’m just curious why you don’t want things said in PMs to be actionable? What specific reasons, besides privacy?

From my first hand experience there are many violations that happen in PMs. So if you weigh the pros and cons of privacy vs missing violations, which one wins out for you?
Considering there may be very serious violations that happen in PMs.

Privacy always wins out. Just because some want privacy, doesn’t mean they are up to no good or doing anything wrong.
PMs are private unless they're reported. We can only see the content of private messages if and when they're reported.

As I said before, read the rules and stick to them.
