Ignore

Hey all, hope all are well.

I know this has been brought up before, but, I was wondering why in chat rooms Ignore does not work 'both' ways. I mean, if I feel the need to put someone on Ignore, I can no longer see what that person posts, which is fine, but that person can still see what I post and whomever it may be can still post comments about me... Plus, Admins and Mods have no control over it because when people get into spats the only thing they can do is tell people to put each other on Ignore. Ignore should be changed to work both ways, or give staff the ability to do that.
It should also work that way here in the Forum as well.

Spread the Laughter! 😂

It's an interesting suggestion but if you're posting publicly on the internet then you can't expect privacy of your publicly posted content.

If this suggestion were to be implemented and you put someone on the suggested ignore and they really wanted to see what you were saying publicly, they could sign in as a guest or make a new account.

Your best option if you don't want people (even if it's a select few) to see what you say is not to post things publicly.

I tried putting you on ignore but now you're a UM so you can see all ma love letters mentioning you.

@AshleeLightBringer - I'm sow shy now that he can see all that - I like your suggestion. Haha

Just to expand on this … can you please clarify why users are being reported and threats with a ban for posting on PUBLIC profiles, when, as a UM, you have just confirmed the above?

Not a dig at you of course, but since leading by example is clearly something that doesn’t happen when it comes to forums, I’m sure we’d love to be enlightened.

Unless it only pertains to the users who don’t accept others playing the victim card.

Aye, I got a warning or comment for that shite from one of the new UMs I'm certain as I told you to PM. Never had such a thing happen before, so ya know, not up to any of us who gets promoted but ya know, get too technical or over the top and you'll see only the kick/ban sub-forum in business.

let's hope this new group of UM's actually work together in a way and not attempt at banning or editing users unnecessarily.

Personally (based on being here a couple of years), I think posting on someone else's profile is generally acceptable—unless the profile owner has asked that such posts not be made. If someone is specifically asked not to post and continues to do so, that should be considered inappropriate.

That said, everyone has access to privacy settings and can use them to prevent unwanted posts. All non-staff users also have the option to ignore others if needed.

Regarding a report from yesterday: I looked into a profile post that was flagged and resolved the issue. No formal warnings were issued, and no one has been threatened with a ban over it.

I don't think that's entirely valid. Facebook does blocks both ways. Most social platforms do blocks both ways. This has probably been discussed ad nauseum for the 10 years I've been here but has never been changed. Not sure why. If you ignore someone, like the OP said, there may be a good reason. Why would you want them still able to gather information on you if they may intend to harm you in some way?

Sure they could create other accounts to gather info on you and harass you....we see that all the time. No sense making it easy for them when I see it as an easy code fix. IMO

I do both ways too.

I mean it's the only way.

I would just settle for a permanent mute in Video Chat. A typical day there consists of muting the same person 50 billion times because they can just reload the chat and get unmuted whenever they want.

IN FORUMS: if they dont want certain people on their profile then as you stated, they need to set their permissions that way.
if they don't and then complain its a game for attention ( there are certainly those that don't know you can hence the faq.) and to play on the UMs. specific user or not, all the power for wall posts lay in the hand of the user.

The professor is correct.

@Inkandtatts - just say yes.

It depends on who you are and if you are liked. Some are told to ignore others if they don't want them trolling and others get in trouble for trolling. It depends on whether you are a favorite or not.

Maybe don’t log in, don’t post, don’t talk, don’t cry. You’ll never get banned if you aren’t really here , or there, or anywhere.

All rooms are just porn rooms anyway
