Feel free to yap about whatever Horror or Thriller books you've read or are currently reading.

No spoilers though!
 
Hey there!! I have yet to actually discover a great horror or thriller book. I do enjoy teen books such as goosebumps and five nights at freddy's however. There's a lot of fnaf series lol

My book recommendation for you will be The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff. It's YA, so nothing too crazy, but I remember liking it as a teen. Check it out.

It's more of a fantasy novel, but it has horror elements.
 
Ok great, i have to much work and school i wouldn't have time to read a long book lol. I'll have to check it out when i'm free. Thank you for the great thread

Here's a synopsis:

Mackie Doyle is not one of us. Though he lives in the small town of Gentry, he comes from a world of tunnels and black murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. He is a Replacement, left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is fighting to survive in the human world.

Mackie would give anything to live among us, to practice on his bass or spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem. He must face the dark creatures of the Slag Heaps and find his rightful place, in our world, or theirs.

  • The Fireman by Joe Hill
  • Suckers by Anne Billson
  • From Below by Darcy Coates
  • The Lesser Dead by Christopher Buehlman
  • The Troop by Nick Cutter
  • The Box by Richard Matheson (A short story collection with some Horror/Thriller entries)
  • Both books in the West Hollywood Vampires series by Hal Bodner
  • The Bill Hodges Trilogy by Stephen King
  • One Rainy Night by Richard Laymon
  • The Collector by John Fowles
  • I'm currently reading Ravenous, which is book 1 in the Big Rock series by Ray Garton.
This seems like a lot just for these two genres, but it makes up like 90% of of what I read. lol

Folks tell me I'm a big reader, but I'm a very mediocre one compared to many readers in the online bookish community. That's alright though. I don't care about the numbers and what's popular. I'm just having a good time. lol
 
Well, I was reading Werewolf Cop by Andrew Klavan, but that was before I realized he's an incredibly misogynistic right winger, so I'm planning on tossing the paperbacks I had of his books in my recycling bin.

So instead I'm going to read two novellas instead. "Cycle of the Werewolf" by Stephen King, and an extreme horror book called "CARNIVORE" (yes it's in all caps) by someone who goes by K.L. Allister.

I might also read "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak while I'm at the hospital during my mom's hip replacement surgery tomorrow. I've heard that's a sad one. I got my copy from inside a mansion for a buck.
