Censorship is getting untenable

the number of common words you can't say because they're randomly block is getting ridiculous. It hasn't actually stopped spam, and only interferes with normal people.

Live?
Any word with an 'sc'?
Any word with 'com'? (not being able to say computer on a website is crazy work)
Group?

These are all just basic, every day words. The fact that every day we have to try to figure out what the out person is saying because more and more of the chat is ****, or try to play a game of dancing around the filter makes the site unappealing

the word "tell" is censored now. Not because it has "tel" in it, that's censored on its own as well. "Tell" is censored. A basic, conversational word. For rooms with 'Adult' and 'Sex' chats, they sure seem to coddle the users.

No no they are doing a great job eventually nobody's gonna be able to chat and the bad guys will also leave because there's no prey genius right ?

How to remove all the wolves from a forest, burn the forest down. If you kill all the deer and vegetation, wolves cant stay there

I can understand where you're coming from however these words are in the filter because those words are the most commonly spammed.

And whilst I can appreciate that from your perspective this may seem like overreaching control; I can assure you that adding these words to the filter was done to remove the temptation for those that lacked the aforementioned impulse control - resulting in less spam during the odd moments that our chatrooms are unstaffed, and an overall improvement to the chatting experience.

I think you mean you understand where I'm ****ing from, because those words are the most ****only spammed. Wouldn't want to risk anything getting by just because the venue is different

Aight we can do it the asshole way too that works.

Chat-Avenue reserves the right to limit, remove or edit any content that violates chatting guidelines listed in the Terms of Service (ToS). When you entered your details and hit submit to sign up to the forums to have this cry it literally says "you acknowledge and agree to chat-avenues terms of service" so what grounds do you have for this whinge?

Don't like the terms of service, don't sign up to the ****ing site. Is it really rocket science?
 
no one's being an asshole, just pointing out that your own explanation runs afoul of the exact thing people are upset with (because it's impossible not to)
 
So if the spammers want Chat Ave to be turned into morse code all they have to do is spam words people commonly use. Genius solution. So we're banking on them not realizing that they are the ones dictating what other ******** are allowed to do. The paying customers also.

All terms of service can be overturned legally if you can prove they break a law or don't inform you adequately.. One venue one can do that is the data harvesting that isn't being disclosed and where its sent we're talking private information here taken periodically via screenshots to " Trust us bro, trusted partners". I'm sure the terms of service here are air tight though.

You are agreeing to what the site provides but you're also agreeing that your information is used responsibly, no terms of service is above the law
 
There is the opportunity to purchase VIP where the filter doesn’t apply (check this with the specific room admin though)

So your argument is that the alternative [logging on to walls of text, message after message of the same link/post] is a better option?

Alright what about that 13 year old who accidentally clicks a malware link because it's spammed everywhere. But of course it's all about your rights isn't it? Who cares that he's now compromised his information as long as we can use our url suffixes

Focus on slowing down your need to rush in here with baited breath; read what level of decorum is expected, click the box that says "I agree" but only if you agree (which you clearly did because you're here gracing us with presence).

Bottom of the rooms are the rules for each room - you click login - that's the agreement to follow those rules.

When you created your account there was a hyperlink to the terms of service. You literally would not have been able to create an account here without ticking the box that says "I have read and agreed to chat avenues terms of service and usage policy".

Ofcom's already doing an investigation on Chat ave

Now as for solutions.. Why not introduce a simple delay for guest accounts after registering and for every new message and shower them with captchas if they repeat themselves a bit too much ?

Encourage registering by providing some lesser form of VIP account demo give them 2 days make the diamond green, same as free to play game welcome rewards. Even make people able to purchase that lesser form for gold if they haven't been kicked or actioned by staff for a period of time, promoting good behavior and increasing participation or alternatively give "discounts" for good behavior for purchasing VIP accounts.

Rehaul the general room to not allow people under 16 or hell 18 period. Its the oldest room of chat ave with the most history and as it stands right now its attracting the wrong kind of crowd and they are buying VIP for accounts under 18, which probably brings some profit, doesn't look good or help with the compliance to protect minors from harmful behavior.

Make it annoying to be a spammer.. Not that hard to do, make them play sudoku as a captcha..
 
Censoring doesn't work. When someone says, "F*** you," you still know what they're saying. It only obscures the word, and chat is about words. Actual people who come to chat use words. Please remove censors so that we can use words and chat.

If someone spams, remove them for spamming. Censors won't stop someone from spamming.

We can better utilize the tools we have to make chat nicer for the people that actually use it to chat instead of using them to hinder those same people that support the site.
