Hey, Chat Avenue, Let's talk about the Ukraine-Russia crisis.


Before you read the following please understand this topic can be triggering as it includes death, war, and chaos.


At around 11 PM EST 02/23/2022 Russia's government launched it's first scaled attack on the country of Ukraine (a neighboring country of Poland (a NATO ally) and Russia. Since then tensions have only worsen. At this time NATO allies are working to impose sanctions against Russia as a response to the crisis.


So why is the Russian Government invading Ukraine?
Vladimir Putin's campaign has been around restoring the "old Russia" also known as the Soviet Union, which Ukraine used to be apart of. Furthermore, controlling Ukraine would help Russia by opening up more ports, gas lines, and allowing greater access to the Black Sea.

Why isn't NATO aiding Ukraine right now?
Ukraine isn't officially apart of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, therefore Article 5 cannot be invoked to assist Ukraine during the war. Furthermore, going up against Russia could lead to Nuclear devastation (for example- President Bush didn't intervene with the Georgia-Russia Crisis in his presidency) However, many NATO countries have already imposed sanctions but fear nuclear catastrophe with more involvement.

Why can't Ukraine join NATO?
Putin has warned doing so will lead to catastrophe. Furthermore, allowing Ukraine to join would lead to a possible global war (also known as- Third World War) because NATO allies would be required to fully help Ukraine with the war, which is composed of 28 countries, and 2 north american countries.

What am I going to enforce?
We won't tolerate any pro war activists or jokes regarding this matter. This is a serious crisis and through social media has turned it into a meme filled with propaganda, please only resort to creditable websites for your information. We also won't be tolerating any pro Russian-war talk, the only people to blame for this is the Russian Government and not the people

He doesn’t want to restore the Soviet Union, he wants to restore the imperial pre-Soviet Russian Empire, hence why he is backed by the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox church. Although he was part of the so called Soviet “apparatchik” he is far from a communist. He is a conservative Russian nationalist.

By the way, old Russia isn’t the Soviet Union. Old Russia is the Russian Empire and the Tsardom of Russia, Grand Duchy of Moscow and Kievan Rus before that, leaving out the periods of Mongolian and Turkic rule, Golden Horde and various Khanates.
 
Nah, he wants to restore the old USSR as well as Czechoslovaskia and Yugoslavia; he wants to make the leaders of Poland, Czechoslavakia, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Albania, Romania, and Bulgaria his little yes-men; he's also demand the Eastern half of Germany but fails to get the western half of Berlin because 'Murica; and to hell with it he will lose power when he tries his own luck on Afghanistan.

The people who have propagated this information used here are the same people who:

Said there was weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Turned Libya into hell hole that now has open slave markets.

Created the disaster that was the pullout of Afghanistan, that benefits China.

Said Trump was a Russian spy.

Pushed Europe into a position to rely on Russian oil and gas. Thus funding this war.

Closed down a vast amount of oil and gas production in the west that could have supplied Europe with what it needs.

Who told you sanctions will stop him

Who passed on intelligence on Russia to China so they would help then China passing it onto the Russians (when it was out in the open they are allies).

I could go on.

Sanctions will only hurt the poor Russia is still making billion on oil especially now its at over $107 per barrel.

Where were you with the USA bombing the crap out of Somalia this past year?

Where were you for any number of Western sanctioned regime changes or backed wars?


This conflict isn't as simple as Putin wants to recreate the USSR. Many recent decisions by some leaders in the West have emboldened him and also created a situation that you could argue forced his hand. Such as not taking off the table Ukraine joining NATO. Remember JF Kennedy was willing to go to war over the Cuba crisis. No one wants someone they view as an aggressor having medium ranged balistic missiles 3 minutes from your capital.

Want to blame someone for this war? Yes Putin is bad and should not have taken this action. War is evil no matter who creates it. But the actions of the west and NATO has not helped in the least to stop this conflict. If anything many of the actions in the past year have helped to created this conflict.

Make your leaders accountable for their actions.

On a side note to all those on social media etc:

You want to support Ukrainians? Showing a flag on your social media or shouting down Russians does nothing for them. If you really want to help donate some money to help those who need food and medical aid. Stop doing things to make you feel good that has no benefit for them in the least. Also where were you for any number of the conflicts we currently have in the world?

yeah, didn't really mean that at all. Meant that I didn't give a fuk about political issues when it comes to people being slaughtered enmasse and when are they going to assassinate Putin and why haven't they done so in the years gone by because this was always going to happen.

Yeah Religion and Politics are two of the worst culprits for war. I can wholeheartedly agree on that.

Putin's time as President is going to get a lot rougher. Yes he may have the police. If he loses support from the army his presidential term (and potentially his life) will be greatly shortened. Question is, who will fill the vacuum left by Putin. Medvedev...? Oh good god no. Anyone but him.
