If you want to look at Religious wars, look at the Byzantine-Sassanid wars of the sixth century, Arab expansion wars in the 7th century, the Byzantine-Arab Wars of the ninth century, The first, second, and third crusades, Manzikert, the Spanish Reconquista, the Mughal wars in India, the Fall of Constantinople, the Conquest of the New World, the Russo-Turkish wars (all of them from the 1600's to the 1800's), the Great Turkish War of the 17th and 18th centuries, the Balkan Wars of the early twentieth century, the Bosnian War of the 1990's and the civil wars in Africa in the early 2000's and then come back to me with these "sectarian" wars that you are talking about. Yeas there was the Thirty Years War to back your claim, but that is one of a few wars. Its in history often but is not the cause of war often the vast majority of wars have been sectarian and by far the greatest numbers of deaths have come from sectarian wars.
Yes I didnt say there was no wars I said the majority of all wars have been sectarian and the vast majority of deaths is wars has been through sectarian wars.If you want to look at Religious wars, look at the Byzantine-Sassanid wars of the sixth century, Arab expansion wars in the 7th century, the Byzantine-Arab Wars of the ninth century, The first, second, and third crusades, Manzikert, the Spanish Reconquista, the Mughal wars in India, the Fall of Constantinople, the Conquest of the New World, the Russo-Turkish wars (all of them from the 1600's to the 1800's), the Great Turkish War of the 17th and 18th centuries, the Balkan Wars of the early twentieth century, the Bosnian War of the 1990's and the civil wars in Africa in the early 2000's and then come back to me with these "sectarian" wars that you are talking about. Define "sectarianism".Yes I didnt say there was no wars I said the majority of all wars have been sectarian and the vast majority of deaths is wars has been through sectarian wars.
Just because it isnt the main cause of a particular war, doesnt mean it doesnt play a part in it. Something that makes certain regions rlly prone to war, like europe, is because of the fact people believe in an afterlife. When u believe in an after life, death becomes meaningless, which makes death not a detterent for war, and sending thousands to their deaths is just a meaningless act. Also, not all conflicts can rlly be classified as wars. The genocide of the native american people and culture, was spearheaded by christians wanting to "christianize" and "save" the native americans, who were mislead by "false gods". This isnt just somthing that happened here in america, but all around the world, during the age of imperialism, where european countrys went to all the poor continents, like africa, asia, the americas, with the intemt of "christianizing" all of the "savage people", which led to 90% of the world being controlled by a european power. This wouldnt even be called a war, it was just a straight up invasion of the world, and even if it was considered a war, it would just be one war, out of the thousands of "sectarian" wars, which had a minor influence on the world, compared to this event. Its in history often but is not the cause of war often the vast majority of wars have been sectarian and by far the greatest numbers of deaths have come from sectarian wars.
propaganda is a hellava drugNothing justifies war, murdering and displacing fellow human beings. Breaks my heart to see children a part of these evil intentions
Well they are the ones who invaded. Ergo, Russia are technically seen as the bad guys. The news stations always twist facts and take stuff out of context so i wasnt gonna comment on the war till all the facts came out cuz since the news stations are bias as it is against russia before the war started.
“I stand with Ukraine” while displaying a Russian flag.I don't understand what we would debate as far as this goes. It's a war between two nations' governments (although the people are being bombarded with propaganda and being coerced into it...), but wouldn't the debate be either for or against the war, on either side? If you're not allowing pro-war/pro-war Russia talk in this thread, what's there to discuss? It's either you're for the war in Russian or Ukrainian sense, or you're against it but the OP specifically disqualifies the other side. lol?![]()
Edit: A better title/guideline would just be "War vs. Anti-War". If it's russia vs. ukraine, it's strictly war-based, and all other discussion is off-topic
It does, since this thread is about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and you’re considering it a joke. I showed your comment to my Ukrainian friend Lesya and she considers it to be in very poor taste and offensive towards all the people that are suffering because of this conflict.Yeah, it's irony/a joke. Has nothing to do with this debate, though. Good eye, I guess?
Still has nothing to do with the topic. You’re commenting to whether my mood on my account is insensitive/tolerable. Perhaps reread your comment?Still has nothing to do with the topic. You’re commenting to whether my mood on my account is insensitive/tolerable. You posted the content and I responded to it.
The topic is about war between two countries, not my sense of humor. Nice attempt at a guilt trip, though!
Again, you’re directing this personally to me and adding nothing to the topic about the war. You can claim bias and intent to my post and claiming it as “trolling”, but you were the one who brought it up by posting the screenshot. I’d argue that my post is logical and reasonable enough to be taken at face value, and your only argument is how i don’t take this seriously.Perhaps reread your comment?
“discuss? It's either you're for the war in Russian or Ukrainian sense, or you're against it but the OP specifically disqualifies the other side”
You were clearly pointing out the importance of objectivity. How can someone who makes fun of this war, posting a quote saying “I stand with Ukraine” while posting a Russian flag and openly admitting to making fun of the situation, be taken seriously? You’re obviously trolling. Nice try though.
My comment shows how any sort of discussion, whether it is about which side you support or if you are for or against a war, is not credible in light of there being people like you who make a mockery out of the whole situation. You yourself admitted to making fun of the whole situation. Why discuss a topic with people whose only objective it is to troll?Again, you’re directing this personally to me and adding nothing to the topic about the war. You’ve made it a personal(and off-topic) thing as well as posting the content to begin with, so perhaps you’re the one who may or may not be trolling? Again, it’s off-topic so I wouldn’t care to go back and forth, but a public accusation warrants responses, in my opinion.
