A cat or dog???

Dogs.... I had a Beagle for almost 16 years. She was the loudest, goofiest creature God had created up to that point I think - but I loved her dearly and still miss her. I like cats but as the old saying goes: "Dogs treat you like family - cats treat you like staff" 🙂

Honestly,

Cats are great lil sociopaths....their funny to sit an watch but if I had to chose...Id go Dog all the way!! Hands down dogs are the best...
A cat will ignore you till it's hungry, a dog will watch over you when your sick an always come running when you call ..

Plus if things ever got bad an the z0mbies broke out a cat will run up a tree an laugh an stare at you while you run away an a dog will help you gather food an warn you when they are near.....so again hands down DOG!!:lol:
 
In an ideal world, neither because they're both such messy animals; scooping a litter box daily that is kept inside your house, versus scooping up the dog crap scattered across your lawn, in the many places where you're liable to step.?

I have three dogs (soon to be four or five, because my show dog's breeder is giving me another puppy or two) and I currently have seven cats in my house (I have nine cats actually, two are at my parents' house for the time being, we get a lot of abandoned cats here, many come pregnant sadly), so I get the best of both worlds; cleaning out litter boxes every single day, and scooping up the dog crap in my backyard... hooray. 😛

I prefer the generally independent and quiet nature of a cat, they are not going to beg to go for a walk or go for a car ride and they aren't going to trample your visitors with excitement, and they certainly aren't going to sit in the window and bark excessively at an empty plastic bag flying around in the wind thinking it's another animal..

While I do prefer the outgoing nature and activity of a dog, as well as being a good walking-companion and for overall companionship and loyalty, but dogs require a lot of work, socialization and training regardless of breed or size; also I do not like how unpredictable a dog's temperament can be now-a-days with all the irresponsible breeding taking place, people breeding dogs for the wrong reasons, resulting in dogs with unstable temperaments and aggressive tendencies, so unless you buy from a responsible, reputable breeder you won't know what you have until it's too late and the dog's temperament proves not so sound.

I never had to housebreak a cat, I've never had to leash train a cat, I've never had to socialize a cat with the entire world just to make sure its temperament will be influenced the right way. Cats are easier.
 
Well I personally like both, but I suppose if I had to choose, I'd go with dogs. My dogs are a lot more cuddly and protective than my cat.


I currently have 4 dogs and 1 cat (and I'm pretty sure she's from Hell). But I love them all.
 
Do I really have to answer this...look at my profile😀 I like dogs no problem but I always had a cat, and now of these bishes😛
 
Caaaaaats. 3 cats, 1 kitten, 1 dog and 1 bird. But either way, cats all the way, bro! Though, I love almost all animals but I'm a cat person so yeah. c:

Very good response.

I like cats more for the reasons stated above. One being I dont like a pile of landmines in my backyard and a swarm flies everywhere during the summer. Dogs make good companions if you are an active that person that enjoys going out a lot. A good trained dog will not overburden guests, but i have yet to see an cat who pounces on new visitors with excitement. Cats can be good companions as well but in different ways than a dog. However, a dogs utility can go way beyond a cat would ever dream of. Cats are curious and can cause trouble but i believe they are still easier to handle than a dog. They also consume far less food because domestic cats can only grow so big. Most of the reasons above can contribute to an "easier and cheaper" cost of companionship.
ps. cats also purr and that is priceless

I do disagree with the last paragraph though, there are plenty of dogs with a predictable and good temperament that can be seen before becoming a dog owner. The only problem is theyre stuck at an animal shelter. Some temperament can be seen in dogs when they are pups, however the only true way of knowing their temperament is to have them grow and mature.
