Hi,
Sir Revo here,

I just wanted to say that I think it's a very bad policy to allow Admin's of rooms to choose to have all complaint threads about their room closed immediately and just say direct all complaints to their PM inbox.

This completely ruins the point of having a forum.

Thank you,
Sir Revo

Meh I mean me personally I’d rather have it in the open, nothing to hide and show that all my bans would be warranted. The choice is there and people make the decision. If ******** also know that admins prefere sorting stuff in dms that’s good too. Makes forums less spammy etc. I think the choice should be at their own discression

Hello Revo, Admins do have the option, to ask that forums staff close threads and refer ******** to DM. One of the reasons for the complaint section, is to ensure room admins have for lack of better words, "formal notice" of an issue. What you probably don't know, is that the site expects that those admins that request DM, do indeed sort the issues in DM. I think there are some good reasons to allow for the option ( none of which I can share) Some ask for DM resolution, some don't.

It has been site policy for quite some time apparently. @Kim might have something for you on this.

@H.R. PufnStuf I respectfully disagree with you because what you said doesn't at all change the fact that closing all complaints and sending them directly to an admins inbox ruins the point of forums - whether they are expected to resolve the issue or not. Also - what if the complaint is about the Admin.

If the complaint is about an Admin, then you send it with proof to the Chatmaster. I see Lex has given a perspective too. I'm not really defending for or against the practice_ I simply see the rational and see it as administrative, that works well for the needs of various rooms Admins is all. It makes sense that those volunteers ultimately responsible for each room, have a say on how complaints get processed.,

The complaints still go to where they need to be- to admins.

It was about the fact that it disregards the point of forums, not the fact the lex luthor is a corrupt POS and is admin and cant be fucked to take the time to view forums. If she doesn't have time to briefly check forums should she even be admin? bc I'm sure many others do.

this is SCF as you well know Revo. Please stay on topic, if this morphs into a complaint, it may be moved, referred to whomever and closed as needed.

This thread wasn't directed at Lex but she's definitely involved. What I'm trying to say is that it makes no sense to even have a forum if the Admins of the room can simply impose a rule that says "immediately close all complaint threads of my room - send them to my direct pm" ...

because thats exactly whats happening rn and it totally ruins the purpose of a forum

Boy did this thread escalate a little quickly...

On topic:

I've seen that most on the receiving end of the Kick out of a chat room, rush to forums to complain in this section. Back in the old days, all you could was follow chain of command; Mod that Kicked>Admin of Chat>Chatmaster. Some even bothered to PM Administrator when they either didn't like the response or couldn't get anyone to answer.

Honestly, if the Chat Admin wants you to PM them, you should either do it or leave it alone. You either want back in the chat room, or you want to fight. That's pretty much how these complaints tend to go anyway. People don't like being caught in a lie. Its you vs the Mod who kicked you and the regulars who saw what's going on. Not to mention Chatmaster probably still hides under invisible to monitor his staff and the rooms. Sometimes, he will do the banning. His and Administrator's words are final on here.

To play Devil’s advocate: while the purpose of a forum may very well be to flesh out thorough discussions of various topics, the purpose of a complaint is to express a grievance and seek amendment to that issue.

If an Administrator is willing to field private messages as a way to amend any issues that a user has, why are your knickers in a bunch?

Have a little fuss, here or there; get your issue resolved; move on with your life. At the end of the day, you arrive at the same result, so modality seems largely irrelevant.

Threads..more times than not...devolve into off topic nonsense. So you are more likely to get it swiftly taken care of in a dm. The threads don't get deleted so your complaint or issue is still known. And if the issue isn't resolved in the requested dm from the admin you are free to start another thread or take it higher up. So many simple "why was I muted" threads end up in 3 pages of fights between people not even involved in the original complaint. While they are fun to read as a nonparticipant....it doesn't do much good in getting anything done.

I agree admins should have their respected room complaints/queries directed to PM if they prefer. Lex said she (still can’t believe she is a she 🫣) gets notified quicker- tells me she puts your pointless **** as priority even though majority of times it’s not. She still responds.

UM’s should only close at request of admin or if it’s clearly obvious that we all see a mod is responding to at least try get the issue solved and give admin the base fact of the issue rather than the admins do it alone.

Switzerland.

Also to note the UM’s are already do that anyway so there really isn’t an issue. Only issue is when complaint is against admin who is also a um. Not for us tho it’s fun and we all like a busy thread. 😘

I agree. I feel that the mod who Banned said user should be the first one to respond to the post. I'm not saying they should get into a debate, but they should post a reason why the ban, explain the ban is only 2 hours anyway, and a screenshot of the incident. But I digress.
