I've come across a bug. I discussed it with the room Administrator but thought I might as well log it here too because the Administrator said he's never seen this before.
I recently stopped using an account, username 'White Beard' on Adult Chat. Long story why I stopped, but anyway. The account is still technically active. I had used the webcam from this account numerous times without issue.
I created a new account, new email address: 'Patient Man'. Also on Adult Chat. Everything seemed normal, but then I noticed that when broadcasting my camera, the camera icon was not visible in the chat room. So, it looked as if I was not broadcasting.
Nothing I did fixed this. Different browsers, private tabs or not, different computers, different IP address, ad blocker on/off. When I logged in as the new registered account 'Patient Man', nothing I tried has gotten the webcam icon to show while broadcasting.
Now, when tried logging in as a guest, the webcam icon shows I am broadcasting every time I turn on the cam. And it works like a charm. So this was odd. So, I logged into another browser as 'Patient Man'. I request the guest's cam (call the guest... 'purple hero'), and surprisingly, the request came over as from 'White Beard', the older, still active account, even though I was logged in as 'Patient Man'.
By now, maybe you're thinking, good thing this guy is 'patient', LOL! There was also some oddity between 'Patient Man' and 'purple hero'. When I made the request to view the purple hero's cam, I decided to deny it from purple hero's side. The message in Patient Man's chat log had the usernames switched around opposite to what you would expect. It said:
So, there's something going on with the web cam server, registered accounts, etc. I don't know the specifics. I actually think this might be tied to the hardware address or some kind of identifier that comes over with the webcam. And, if you're registered, the web cam server maybe captures it and holds it for a while. So that when a registered account tries to get a session going on the webcam server, it just pulls from what it has saved, the old account. Just a guess. I switched IPs so it's not that, I don't think.
Now, some historical color - This has happened to me before, but when someone was requesting my camera. They kept saying I was not accepting - but I never saw the request come over, then she tried again several times, and it was coming over under another chat name. So I think 'she' (probably he) had more than one registered account and was experiencing this same bug.
What I tried:
clearing cookies
clearing cache
different browsers
private / no-private tabs / incognito, etc
no ad blocker running
different IPs
different computers
tried registering new accounts, both from the main page, and when logged in as guest
I even tried it with a second webcam instead of the external cam, so maybe it's not tied to HW address?
Eventually I started running into errors like ***** wouldn't let me create email accounts any more, and Adult Chat said I had too many accounts, agreed.
Anyways, I think I chose the right user name 🙂. Just wanted to get the issue into something semi-permanent here in a forum post. If someone from the tech team can help out, much appreciated! I assume over time, the web cam server session or association to the older account will expire, I hope, but if not, someone needs to know about it.
Thanks for any help!

purple hero sorry, but Patient Man denied your webcam request
