So, I have been following the 2045 Initiative for several years now. Mostly Russian scientists who have a fairly lofty goal of transplanting a human mind into an android body by the year 2045, with an ultimate goal of "downloading" the mind into a mechanical body and then allowing the individual to project their avatar and their senses pretty much anywhere.
You can ****** the 2045 Initiative for more info, like I said its been around literally for years and some of the science is interesting even if the goal is a bit overzealous.
The largest debate over placing a human mind into an android body is whether or not this still allows us to be "human" or not. I have had this debate in the past in other forums and the person I debated with said this is nothing more than trying to create an abomination which I found fascinating.
I never got to get past that and I don't know if there is anyone who would consider it an abomination but I would ask such a thought process what makes it an abomination. More to the point, do you have a set percentage of the human body that can be replaced before it is an abomination? Is a person with a prosthetic an abomination?
Is a heart transplant to a mechanical heart an abomination?
So, that is what I have personally found fascinating in the debate but there are other thoughts I am sure.
So how about a friendly debate for or against android bodies?
