Anxiety

I dont know if a thread already exists but...

I've started a new job recently, and my anxiety and stress levels are through the roof. I find its affecting my sleep and I wake every morning with a sense of dread about the day. There are no particular stressors at work - i dont have a horrible boss etc. Its just that my tasks are high stakes with added time pressures and I lay awake at night wondering if i missed anything, or if i've done them correctly.

I know exercising regularly can help. The pedometer on my phone says I walk about 4.5 miles when I check it after work, and Im always exhausted after a long day, where I often dont get time to eat lunch, and horrifyingly - some days i dont even get to drink anything!

Id like some suggestions on techniques to deal with anxiety that you may have found useful.
Also, some ideas about how I can exercise when i feel exhausted?

Thanks chat ave 🙂

seems like you put too much pressure on yourself, have you tried meditation? its not going to magically make the anxiety disappear but bringing awareness to my breathing has helped calm me down.

Also, some ideas about how I can exercise when i feel exhausted?

try working out to music. also creating exercise goals, and changing your workout routine every once in a while may help in overcoming your fatigue.

good luck.

My therapist told me to think to myself "What can your anxiety really do to you? Does it affect you that badly?" or something along those lines.

As for tips for dealing with it, I find watching funny videos/playing games that make you think a lot are good ways to get your mind off your anxiety.

Sounds like anxiety disorder. I have it too, although mine is minor enough that I don't have to get any real help for it. But what I do is I find a hobby (mine are writing, art, and watching anime) and in your free time, completely drown yourself in it. It should be an easy, fun hobby that you can do for many hours without getting bored or tired. Do it with whatever free time you have. It distracts you from daily pressures.

Make sure you have some you time every day to calm yourself, do something you like etc. Find something that stimulates or relaxes your head before/after work - myself I have to listen to 10-15 minutes of music before heading into work to get me going and if I'm not working evenings like to cook for myself. Absolutely make sure your drinking enough (good) fluids, you can't function properly if your dehydrating yourself, which will lead to other bad stuff.

It usually stems from past experiences, most victims of bullying have it. It makes it hard for them to do some of the simplest things. For me, I've always had a horrible time talking to strangers or asking favors from people. It's a feeling that's pretty hard to explain, but the best I can describe it is a feeling of nervousness worse than the norm.

I have seen a friend suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and I swear someone who has never experienced it will never understand the feeling of it.

It is not something that can be said "you can do it / just snap out of it/ its alright" or something else. Only that person knows it and it is like they have no control over their bodies.

My advice for anxiety, either talk to your SO/best friend/friend/sibling/parents about it and hug them or get a pet and hug them. Works wonders. Try watching a funny movie or visiting sites like 9 gag ..which will give you a good laugh...

And if nothing else works... use this... definitely will work wonders :lmao:

I totally understand how you feel.
Sometimes it helps me to write down exactly what is bothering me and then the solutions next to it.
For example if you are dealing with a certain project then see how you could deal with it more affectively by asking someone for advice or taking 15 minutes at home to research it without pressure etc.
I too have anxiety since years so I totally know how it feels. Remember it can not kill you or harm you but it can make you feel terrible but the good thing is you can take your control back. I do not know if you have tried any meds but I personally found them very helpful but they are not for everybody. Cognitive behavioural therapy is also good for dealing with panic.
What I do is I write a little mantra on a note on my phone. When the panic kicks in I go into the bathroom for a minute and read my little mantra which is something like This is anxiety and panic, it feels horrible but it can not kill your or harm you or make you loose control. Now breathe in to your tummy and believe in yourself. You are in control. You can save if like a text message and send it to yourself.

eat and drink water for anxiety

eat and drink water for anxiety

you say you hardly have time to eat or drink, well those are 2 important stress reducers , just bring something easy to grab like a nutrition bar and water bottle.. also tension tamer tea from celestial is awesome for anxiety , has alot of good herbs init, cost abt 2 or 3 dollars at super market! 🙂

I'm actually doing loads better. I think perhaps I just struggle with adapting to change which is why I was so anxious initially. I don't think I have an anxiety disorder because my anxieties are directly related to specific parts of my life. As opposed to a generalised anxiety disorder where I would not be able to identify any specific problems. Thanks for all the suggestions though 🙂

Anxiety may create hair loss

Anxiety may create hair loss

Stress or anxiety may create hair loss. Prolonged anxiety is dangerous for mind. A healthy mind is necessary to regulate different metabolic activities of our body. We could avoid anxiety through some following activities.
  • Playing with children and pets
  • Interacting with flowers and watering plants in garden
  • Taking morning and evening walks
  • Doing meditation
  • Doing Yoga
  • Doing physical exercises
  • Sharing our problems with friends, relative, and our well wishers

Typing from experience, I have panic and anxiety attacks randomly on a daily basis. It's uncontrolable,nd it can hit you at any moment. Whether you're the happiest you've ever been, or the lowest. Get a pet, interacting with an animal, cuddling it, etc. will lower your stress level a bit. If you're a stoner, have a few tokes and relax yourself. Get comfortable, watch a show/movie.
During my attacks, I have to pace back and forth while shaking my hands. Most of the time, it never works.
My advice, make a journal, find a friend you can trust 100% and just vent away. Don't play with a child if you're having an attack, because children do not need to see that, and it would only stress them, because they want to help but don't know how to. Identify your triggers, once you realize what they are, you'll be able to cope with it, and eventually work on getting rid of it.

I see some good responses, like pets, movies, stuff like that.

I suffer with a lot of anxiety, sometimes worse then others but I wont go into detail. I find that going for walks and listening to music really, really helps me a lot. Also ill just chill out and watch YT vids, things that are of interest will get my mind off my worries and will help to distract me.

So, to highlight, I love to walk, listen to music, and distract myself with other things when my anxiety gets bad. The walking, will keep you active so that will help with exercise, also bike riding is excellent as well.

Good luck and take care.

I know what your going through, I have anxiety at the moment, i was told to do breathing exercises, and to walk aswell

It's unfortunate that many don't understand Anxiety unless they suffer themselves. It is always easier to say: "Not to worry, suck it up and bear it." For those who don't have Anxiety Attacks don't understand how difficult it is to control it sometimes and saying "Just relax and pull yourself together!" can escalate the suffering of Anxiety. People suffer for many reasons; the unknown, new job, peer pressure and so one. I suffer sometimes before a big exam in fear of not passing. I am one who does not like failing and this is why I become anxious.

I am no Doctor but would like to share what works for me. Some herbs like real Ginger Tea. It is strong as some may not enjoy the taste, but for me it helps calm the nerves. Chamomile Tea is for calming, but personally don't think it as effective as Ginger. Grinding a little Ginger into soups is good too.

Other herbs as Valerian Root, Lavender, Lemon Balm, Eucalyptus and Licorice Root are great natural remedies for Anxiety. Many can be purchased in tablet form or as oils that will make a room fragrant with its aroma.

Yoga and breathing exorcises as Davish stated work too!

You too young to suffer from Anxiety.
Anxiety aka Panic Attacks is usually for the war veterans who served at least 4 years and endured high-stress situations.
Where is this society going?
