Can spam bans be lifted?

I was banned for spam sometime in august I think and I have never self advertised and I don't believe I have stated the same message over and over, so I was wondering if bans for spam are forever or not and if I could somehow eventually get un-banned if possible.

If you were advertising a chat site then you will not get unbanned
