This thread relates to rooms that are marketed as for ages 13+ and also have a dice game.

Since the virtual currency used to play with can be obtained using legal tender, the game is equivalent to gambling for money.

Moderators can play in main rooms and the results - including losses and earnings - are displayed for everyone to see.

To the best of my knowledge, no age verification is required when creating an account or setting your age, making a policy of limiting dice rolls to certain ages pointless.

I'm not claiming this problem is unique to Chat Avenue, but it is certainly normalizing, and potentially glamorizing, the concept of gambling to minors.

How do you feel about chat avenue:-
  1. exposing minors to gambling?
  2. allowing them to take part?
P.S: I won't comment on the relevant legalities, but if anyone has knowledge in this area I'd be interested to hear.

god i loved the reverse skip reverse draw 4 move at the end of a 2 player game...
Ah excuse moi Madame Purps, just a question

Do you like gambling? Slot machines/casino?

Have you ever gambled?

you dont need a casino to gamble. you need a solo cup and 2 dice.

nickle slots pay out nicely if you hit it at the right time.... the shows far exceed their payouts tho...

im known to play powerball and scratch offs...

The scratchies never net you anything tho - best I've got is 5 bucks on a dollar scratchie

The slots aye, if you know when to go, once I won 300 - I only put in 5 bucks - I ran away after the win haha

our scratch offs are pretty good. some dollar ones are 75,000 for the big win. we have $10 ones that pay out 300000. interstate drawings "pick 6's" get pretty big one early this was like 1.2 billion. ive won 1000 of a dollar one before.

300 is the low end unless your playing penny. nickles pay out about 500 to be good.

You idiots can go to your states lottery and see if the jackpot (max prize) has already been claimed and how many remain in circulation.

You can keep buying 10 million dollar prize $30 tickets when there is no 10 million dollar prize left. NOOBS

Let's be honest if somebody is getting addicted to s.hit avenue dice rolls they deserve to lose their money no matter the age of the user. I was wise enough to not waste my money on wasteful crap when I was 8 years old so don't give me, they are not old enough to know better, then if that's the case their parents have done a terrible job raising them properly, s.hit avenue is good at making money off morons so let them keep it.

If you have no sense to not gamble and not waste money that is on you no matter the age, let's stop giving these people excuses, let's start admitting they are just moronic and have no sense when it comes to money
Great argument. As a broader economic principle: any society composed of individuals who cannot take responsibility for their own actions is not destined for success. That's indisputable.

However, gambling is a special case. Gambling is highly addictive, especially when it comes to chasing losses. Any group of problem gamblers will have a much higher rate of mental ill-health and low wellbeing. Such people are also more likely to have high levels of stress or adversity, as well as other family members suffering with addiction. Finally, brain scans are beginning to show that they also have lowered impulse control. Many of these factors are completely outside a person's individual frame of responsibility.

The other part of the issue is that there is often another party involved: a business. As well as people having a responsibility for their actions, businesses have a responsibility to act ethically.

To those of you drawing comparisons between the dice game and uno, snakes and ladders etc.: if you're just joking, fair enough. But let me point out the difference when it comes to the dice game: there is an organisation making money out of it, and the gambling industry ruins people's lives.

I would be more concerned the amount of grooming that goes on here than a harmless dice game that you can only access via gold online? Sure you can buy it if you want but why would you want too when its given free? Priorities.

I never suggested it to be the most important issue, merely that it is an issue.

You can have more than one valid principle at any given time.

They won't be concerned ever about the peds and grooming because if you ever try expose or out a ped on this site the one who does the exposing gets banned. Look at I can't remember her name but the kid from the Philippines who used to come forums she exposed some peds and she got banned. What people don't realise unfortunately the main demographic this site hosts and is home to is maybe being generous to the site 70% peds the rest are semi normal. This site is mainly funded by peds so why would the owner or the mods care. it's terrible but if ever spoken about in depth the the groomed gets banned and the groomer gets nothing done. at best on rare occasions, they might get banned. Most of the peds for 10 years ago are still coming to this site Lol

I think the real issue is if you have that much time to spend in a chat room doing something that is not productive you have too much free time. I mean I loved the old arcade. I liked making @frying nemo mad when I demolished her top score. But if you have the time to play a dice game then you have time to go for a nature walk, rock climb, exercise or work.

I completely understand your concerns about Chat Avenue and underage gambling. It's a real issue that many people might not be aware of. It's wild how easy it is for younger folks to access these platforms and get involved in gambling. One of the best ways to tackle this problem is by educating parents and children about the risks and responsibilities of gambling. Parents should monitor their children's online activities closely, maybe even setting up parental controls to monitor their actions. If you're looking for more concrete steps and regulations, There are some solid guidelines and rules in place to prevent underage gambling.
