Clarification

Thank you other mods for your input. It has been a rule in other rooms I’ve modded too, I can’t see it being different for singles.

to my knowledge, external links have never been allowed in general chat and probably no where else on site- including forums. What the rule is for singles room is up to DD to clarify.

@DynamicDylan
"In public" . It has never been against the rules to send games links or social media in private messages. Did that change? Rules say "in public" that's pretty clear.

I never said social media. It’s the external links that is the issue. Actual websites.

If you want my 2 sense, and to be quite clear here, I am only an admin a fraction of some of the admins here... so, i guess it depends on the external link. If it is seen to be recruiting ******** to another site then yea kick them, but if its a link to a decent image(room rules apply) then i would see no issue with it.

The thing is... I don't really give a **** about what you can or can't see. Leave your personal grudges and feelings out of modding the room. You posted rules where it clearly said "in public".

yes, it did say public but then again on the updated forum rules it doesn’t say anything about links at all.

If it comes back that it isn’t a rule in this room, I’ll happily apologise. It’s just not been a thing in two rooms I’ve modded previously.

I’ve spoke to the other mods of our room, they have also agreed that if an external link is reported in pm, they kick for it.

Ps: I’m not acting ever on personal grudges or feelings of any kind.

I am and will continue to treat everyone in the room I’m modding in the same way.

This is not against you as a person. I’m sorry for making you feel that way.

Its just been a rule that the two other rooms have followed 🤔

I know it says in the college chat rules that no links are allowed, but I’ve always acted on links from spam bots or external chat sites. If, for instance, someone wanted to share a link to a game and it was reported, I probably wouldn’t act on it.

The issue is with this one, the person reported it because they didn’t know what it was. In fact, the two ******** were bickering on main.

So the one person reported the link sent to him.

No socials involved and I’m going to guess he wasn’t inviting him for a game of chess.

Oh that's all good. I wasn't really complaining about any specific event. I didn't mention any mods. Just wanted to clear it up for future reference.

that’s fair enough. I’d much rather see a mod using judgment as opposed to blindly following the rules. Not everything is black and white

I was actually inviting for a game of chess. As you can see in main, I was playing chess with a different person at that exact time. The chess link was sent to the wrong person because I missclicked. Link is literally for lichess, you can check it, it says so in the link.

I agree but judgement is a tricky thing in a chat room. You can't really kick someone who broke no rules based just on your judgement. That would end up pretty chaotic. That's why rules should be somewhat clear and followed by both ******** and mods imo.

Agreed. You can usually tell who has malicious intent with what they send and who doesn’t. Not always, of course, but a lot of the time. My point was just that rules are always open to the interpretation of the reader, so it’s hard to give a precise answer here. Me personally, I won’t kick for just any link if sent in PM. Each case is individual

I am sorry, I don’t like to click on links [unless I know the website] as most links I’ve seen on this site are for underage pôrn, so I try not to click links to investigate what it is.

So I had no idea it was a link for a game. All I saw was a report with a link and all I know for my modding experience in different rooms that external links are not allowed.

Not a complaint or anything just for clarification... I'm being threatened I'll get kicked for sending a link to a chess game to someone in PM... Since when is it against the rules to share links in PM? The rules so far were "no links in main" . Can we get a list of rules that will be relevant for ******** and mods so all this confusion can be avoided? Singles chat @DynamicDylan
Links outside of c/a is not allowed unless told otherwise by ownership
