tonight i was enjoying a nice southern meal, & like any good southerner that meal came with a hefty side of collard greens, & it occur-

w-wait, hold that thought... what are collard greens, dolla??? great question, dolla, thanks for asking, i shall es'plain 💁🏼‍♀️

collard greens are made from a type of plant called collards which are closely related to cabbage, & kale; often sauteed, these hearty, dark-green leaves has a mild, slightly bitter flavor that becomes tender, & earthy when cooked 🍽️

anyway... so while everyone has busy havin' an imaginary saber rattled at them by new mods who let imaginary power go to their heads not to mention an emergency session being called at the united nations in regards to human rights violations on #2 Chat-Avenue, a much more pressing matter has risen that we as a community must come together & deliberate;

so what say YOU community????

ARE COLLARD GREENS REALLY JUST HOT SALAD???????

...vote, & discuss...

Of course I love it since it’s a dish that’s pretty known and popular to the people of my culture ( African Americans). Can’t wait to eat it for Thanksgiving 😋 some of us love it a lil spicy. My grandma makes her collard greens with pork bacon in it to add flavor, it’s so good. It’s a cultural must have dish to make for cookouts and parties that African Americans love to make. I love it when Jamaicans make it too. I think my family will make it for the upcoming cookout when we celebrate Labor Day.

That looks like it should be thrown in the bin pronto!

All I will say about Collard Greens is one time when I was driving down south in NC and we passed a house that a smell came from that was so bad I could smell it @60 MPH. I asked my bro, "what the F__K is that god awefull stink?". My Bro being a local NC resident said "Oh that's Collard Greens, People eat that down here with dinner sometimes". "I am like what's the main course dog crap ?" 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah we eat this as a side for dinner on a regular. I make it for my family whenever I make dinner. Fried fish, baked Mac & cheese, and collard greens. It’s so good, you’re trippin.

i luv collard greens as much as any god fearin’ southerner does, but lets be real gang, collard greens are just hot salad 🤷🏼‍♀️

No offense to Ken Kaneki or BabyD or for that matter any southern green loving person. MY comment was purely from my own experience and what I smelled that day. lol

I'm not sure how to explain this how i'm thinking so bear with me.... I personally don't think that it's a hot salad, if you think of everything that's in a cold salad to call it hot is just making it a different temperature so not exactly a hot salad. Granted collard greens are healthy it's not that though. Does that make sense?

I googled them as I have no idea what they are - when I read its a cross between silverbeat and kale - kale needs to be thrown in the bin its absolute horrid stuff
